Velvia makes reds RED, greens GREEN, blues BLUE, and ... well, you get my drift. This is excellent film for nature shots and landscapes if you want a lot of saturation of the colors you see out there. Not so hot for faces. Be aware of that.

It is not Kodachrome Professional 25 and not intended to be. In fact the main reason any flavor of Kodachrome is almost gone now is folks like the Velvia saturation and the professional quality in an E-6 process.

Ektachrome or Provia are more Kodachrome-like but still not Kodachrome. I might sound wistful but I used Kodachrome Professional 25, 64, and 200 from the '60s until it was no longer available a few years ago - 25 disappeared first, then 200, then 64 and all that is left now is standard 64 and it is good but not worth the cost compared to Fuji films.

As long as there is film there will be Velvia and you could do a whole lot worse.

You don't receive this film in the package like it's pictured so you have no idea of how old the film is. It's the professional version but again, you have no idea if the film has been stored properly or how long it has been on the shelf/fridge. I wouldn't take a chance on it again and would not have purchased it if I had known it was not in the box. I felt mislead.

Why do I shoot anything else?

This is the question I ask myself nearly every time I get back a batch of film from the lab. Don't get me wrong- for colour portraits, I will choose Portra every time. There are certain scenes, certain places which Ektar seems to reveal not just as they are, but as they linger in memory.

But generally speaking, if I'm shooting and want a film I know will deliver, I choose Velvia. It gives wonderfully saturated colours that manage to thoroughly announce their presence without looking gimmicky or overdone. Great resolving power. Even in 35mm you will still be able to get great detail without much loss of image quality at larger sizes.

As with any slide film, you will want to take care not to overexpose, as Velvia has little tolerance for blown highlights. But with a little love and care, you can make this great film work for you.

I don't shoot film often anymore, but when I do, this is what I use. I have never been dissapointed with the film, the photographer is another story! Really outstanding color and clarity, stops down well, and colors you see in the view finder are what you get on the film.

Fuji Velvia film never fails to wow me. This film I loaded into my Canon AE-1 Program camera, and was in fact the first film I shot and had developed from that camera. Used it on my honeymoon in the Catskill mountains.

I was completely blown away by the color, vibrancy and depth of the slides this film produced. I hope this film will continue to be manufactured for years to come, as I hope to continue using it on my family, friends, and travels.

Absolutely fantastic slide film...I really like the way it enhances the colors. Have used this film many times, especially on vacation to Florida, does a great job...my favorite slide film by far.
