This review is from: Fujifilm RR-80 Remote Release for Fuji S100fs, S9000 & S9100 Digital Cameras (Electronics)
One of my favorite photography subjects happens to be fireworks and other night shots which require a steady camera. In the past I didn't have a remote shutter release the only way I could eliminate camera shake as I pressed the release button was to set the timer so the camera had time to steady after I pressed the button. I found the practice annoying especially when taking pictures of fast action, low light images.
Another thing I have found the shutter release handy for are times when the camera may be out of my reach. At an Ice Castle Festival I found that getting good shots of the castle lit at night was difficult because of the crowds of people. When I set my camera up high enough on the tripod to shoot over top of the crowd I could make adjustments and see the LCD but couldn't reach the shutter button without causing a great deal of movement. The remote shutter switch worked perfect allowing me to shoot without disturbing the camera or having to time my shots to allow the auto timer to count down each time. The remote is so easy to operate I found that I could keep my gloves on and shoot, I didn't have to freeze my fingers trying to manipulate the shutter button on the camera. The remote shutter release has been a great tool for macro and super macro shooting as well. Too many times I have just gotten a shot lined up and focused only to have the image blurred by movement as I triggered the shutter. Again the remote makes it possible to shoot without touching the camera again once it is set up. The remote is so tiny and so light I keep it in my camera case at all times. I never know for sure when I will need it so it is handy to keep it around. I highly recommend this product. It is well made and simple to use. I have enjoyed it very much.

I finally got my tripod which gave me the opportunity to try this product. Tried it in low light, 30x zoom and with my 2.2 Teleconverter. Tried every mode on my camera and all pix came out so much better than using my arthritic hands on the shutter. The only function it does not work on for my HS20 is panoramic mode, but I knew b4 purchasing.
I did see some comments about wishing it were wireless or with a longer cord (cord is approximately 30") - for what I have done so far it is fine (I actually have it tied at about 12"). I can see some circumstances where wireless or a longer cord would be a good feature, however, knew it wasn't wireless when purchased and am very happy with it.

I bought this manual release to go with a Fuji S200EXR. It plugs right into USB port and has a two stage release button and works perfectly.
The wire could be a little longer but it's not a problem. The only real drawback is that this release feels really fragile. It feels like it could easliy break. However, after a few months of use it's still working great.
