5.0 out of 5 stars A Value Heavyweight!, November 10, 2009

This review is from: Fujinon 10x50 FMT-SX Polaris Series, Water Proof Porro Prism Binocular with 5° Angle of View (Electronics)
Along with its 7x50 cousin, this binocular is a favorite amongst astronomers, law enforcement, and ocean navigators. I bought them to conduct raptor counts, and after spending several thousand hours with them, I'm still glad I did! I can't recommend them as a general birding binocular; they are simply too unwieldy! But if you are doing distance work from a single location (e.g., an observation platform, your front lawn, or the deck of a boat) where close focus isn't a requirement and want a glass with the an enormous depth of field that you can "set and forget, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything better. The brightness and clarity of this binocular competes favorably with even the best Swarovski and Zeiss binoculars. The Fujinon also offers a pretty generous FOV for a 10X. Regrettably, Fujinon discontinued its fine line of optical filters for this binocular, but it remains a first-class value if you understand its limitations. A great glass!
