5.0 out of 5 stars A very entertaining story.
I love that book!!!
Very good storytelling by the author. An excellent epic saga.
I've even write a chronicle for a TV station (specialize in sci-fi/fantasy) about that book.

I told you it's a Fantasy saga and I'm waiting for another book of that writer.

1.0 out of 5 stars First draft?
Maybe I read an earlier draft (found on the author's website), but the version I read was in an incredible need for editing.

It starts out well enough with the introduction to what seems to be a very capable thief with a mysterious background. Unfortunately, all the other characters turn out to be duds, including the once admired thief.

This review is from: Fulcrum Shift (Paperback)
Maybe I read an earlier draft (found on the author's website), but the version I read was in an incredible need for editing.

It starts out well enough with the introduction to what seems to be a very capable thief with a mysterious background. Unfortunately, all the other characters turn out to be duds, including the once admired thief.

No background is given on any of them, and no real character development is attempted. Viss (the aforementioned thief) is given a clouded background, but nothing is every really revealed about it! What was the point of that? Why make him a thief in the first place unless you were going to explain the circumstances that turned him from a quickly promoted sargeant to a thief?

Beyond that, there were blatant inconsistencies. The biggest one concerns the character Roland (who was entirely pointless). At one point the party splits. Roland apparently splits into two because he not only is involved in a battle/ambush, but at the same time was hiding in a kitchen in an underground complex where he and one other person are the only survivors. Huh?

Maybe there's a good story in here that could be brought to life, but it needs some major editing for that to happen.
