5.0 out of 5 stars John Beltran Delivers - Again!
As someone who loves electronic music and house, I've experienced and enjoyed a lot of styles of electronic music. But John Beltran has made me love the Latin-influenced house that he brings with every album. The complex rhythms improve on the standard 4/4 of "average" house and the instrumentation brings a sunny vibe that you can't help but dance to. Ever...

3.0 out of 5 stars John Beltran - In Full Color
John Beltran continues his musical development on IN FULL COLOR. He adopts a much more international approach to house, encompassing Afro-Cuban sounds (on "Candela") to Brazilian bossa nova (on "Dia Brioso"), though I can't but feel that it's been done before -- and better. As well, he's not always successful; the stylistic mish-mash of "She Is" simply fails. The jazz...

But John Beltran has made me love the Latin-influenced house that he brings with every album. The complex rhythms improve on the standard 4/4 of "average" house and the instrumentation brings a sunny vibe that you can't help but dance to. Ever prolific, this is his second album in as many years. Many thanks to the folks at Ubiquity for bringing the kind of music that is consistently brilliant, obviously crafted by musicians who love and take care in what they do.

3.0 out of 5 stars John Beltran - In Full Color, February 28, 2011
This review is from: In Full Color (Audio CD)
John Beltran continues his musical development on IN FULL COLOR. He adopts a much more international approach to house, encompassing Afro-Cuban sounds (on "Candela") to Brazilian bossa nova (on "Dia Brioso"), though I can't but feel that it's been done before -- and better. As well, he's not always successful; the stylistic mish-mash of "She Is" simply fails. The jazz influences perks up the album, from the bass on "Azulaje" to the futuristic scat stylings of "Pica." But interestingly enough, when he harkens back to his Detroit days, as on "Rain in Shibuya," "Starlight Memories" or "Pictures and Indian Summer" he seems much more accomplished and at ease.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, March 3, 2004
This review is from: In Full Color (Audio CD)
Johnny B could make electronica fans out of 90 yr. old grandmothers from Lithuania. I listen to two artists in the "electronic" genre with any regularity; John Beltran is one of them. This album is phenomenal in both its scope and composition. Every track is a contribution, and they're all complementary. I got my version from Itunes - go make the boys at Apple happy, and get your music faster than it takes to nuke a hot dog.
