Blue Full Size Link's Hylian Shield Legend of Zelda

I ordered this replica for the Texas Renaissance Festival. I started to dress as Link a few years back and this shield looked right for the price.

The only major flaw I have with this product is that it was laimed to be made of solid steel with resin detailing on the front.
Reality is that the steel backing on the back is under 1/16 of an inch thick and bends easily when warm. The resin makes up the majority of the sheild as it is up to 1/2" thick at the most and some of the details are trying to lose the glue and fall off so I'm going to have to re-glue them eventually.

But for the price and the weight of the product I am fairly pleased.

As far as appearances go, the shield is fine for cosplay. Admittedly, it may need some work to look great. But it'll do. The silver trim is less shiny and mettalic than in the pictures. In the durability department, it fails. After less than two days of picking it up and holding it, the handle broke off. The handle appears to have been held in place by krazy glue and hope! Fortunately since both pieces are metal JB Weld can fix it. Overall, it's a good item if you don't mind a little work to get it up to 100%.

I am very happy and impressed with the shield. It was large and heavier than I thought it would be.

I only one problem there was a small paint smudge in the back.

The front paint job was great.

My brother loved the gift.

This is made of composite resin. Which makes it heavy. Link is left handed and the mounts force you to hold the shield in your left hand/arm. I unscrewed the mounts to swap them. But when i drilled new holes I had to be very careful not to drill too deep - one hole went through so I have a patch to do on the front once i find the right matching paint and something to fill the small hoel with. If you have never worked with composite before i encourage you to not move the mounts. Teh screw heads just turn offand break. NOthing like screwing into a predrilled hole in wood or metal. I had to go to the hardware store to get more screws and i JB welded the mounts into place after i got screws in as far as i could with breaking.

Overall very cool and people sized sheild. Since composite does not crack or bend i would think harsh treatment like letting the bottom point bang down on hard surface would just powderize the corner leaving more room for fresh paint. the paint was hand brushed on so finding the matching color might be hard. I am guessing it is an acrylic or oil based paint.

It is a cool shield dispite what may sound like a poor review, just be sure to handle it carefully.

Due to its weight this is not a child sheild or a small adult who is not strong...you arm will tire. But mine is now awesome and on is held in your right hand true to the game. Everyone else who i have seen with a sheild, not as cool as this one, they are holding on their left arm.

Ok, first of all... I really have no words to describe this item. Anything I say will fail to convey the appropriate message, but I'll try. This thing is the worst thing I have ever purchased in my entire life. First of all, it looks like someone was bored in their basement and put this atrocity together. It is cheap, cheap, cheap by all accounts and the glued on plastic pieces on the metal shield are coming off. I mean, not even with usage, out of the package! The shield is curved, so where the plastic needs to bend attached to it, well, it came unattached and sticks out. Then the metal sheet is so think, it bends and it feels as though it is going to snap, completely flimsy! But somehow, it still manages to weigh a ton. DO NOT BUY THIS AWFUL, AWFUL product! The only reason I didn't return it with a piece of my dogs excrement in the box is because for the $35, it is not worth my time shipping back this huge item. THE WORST, I was embarrassed to give it as a gift, but I had no choice so close to Christmas! To give you a candid review, EVERYONE in my family thought I made it myself, so go figure that one out as far as it being any good or of any quality!!
