I got the watch in perfect working condition.

Not only that, the clasp on the lid for mine was broken and had to be prodded back into place manually whenever opened, another sign of cheap manufacturing.

I wasn't too concerned with the look though because I was after a functional pocket watch.

For those of you interested in buying this watch, it is a beautiful piece. Though, do be aware that there is four (maybe five) versions of this watch out there that I discovered. The version offered and shown here is the best in appearance to me.

The watch is very beautiful, though the time set dial is a tad touchey; something I've already gotten used to after a few days of having it.

The watch doesn't come with an owners manual either. Something I wish it did come with. I'm unsure of how to get inside of the watch and change the battery (doesn't seem to be clockwork (wind-up) mechanics). I will likely have to take it to a watch smith once the battery dies; Don't want to risk breaking it.

The other versions out there have slight differences:

    Version 2:

Has Fullmetal Alchemist written in english on the back instead. Also, the inside display has a seperate dial for seconds. Seems to be commonly packaged alongside the pendant though can be found seperate.

    Version 3:

Has Fullmetal Alchemist written in japanese on the back instead.

    Version 4:

Has Fullmetal Alchemist written in japanese & english on the back instead. Also, the inside display has a sperate dial for seconds.

This is no better than the HK versions. In fact, one of the HK versions is closer to the original than this. There are not just 4 or 5 versions. There are myriad State Alchemist pocketwatches out there as there are cosplayers and each one just as different.

If you want to come close to the original, look for:
    1) A small separate dial for seconds. Some have functioning second hands others are there just for looks.
    2) Skinny Roman numerals on bezel and low profile minute calibrations in between.
    3) No other logos apart from the military seal on the cover.
    4) "Don't forget 3.Oct.10" engraved on the inside cover if you want Ed's otherwise plain if you're cosplaying as another State Alchemist.
    5) At least 2 inches in diameter. The one featured here is about the same size as the HK versions. The anime watch is a bit bigger than normal pocketwatches.
    6) Traditional chain link not the sleek "modern-looking" type.

There's good reason as to why this is so cheap - it's a shoddily made piece that's really no good if you're looking for a real, accurate cosplay pocketwatch, or even just a functional pocketwatch in general.

For starters, this thing is absolutely tiny - far from fitting into one's palm, it's literally dwarfed by it, as opposed to the large, chunky watch depicted in the show. The watch is ridiculously thin and light, to the extent that it's about the same weight as the long serpentine chain that protrudes from it. The 'antique' finish feels cheap and almost scummy, and instead of a silvery chrome, it's colored a dull, smoky color that looks like tarnish.

Not only that, the clasp on the lid for mine was broken and had to be prodded back into place manually whenever opened, another sign of cheap manufacturing. And then there's the time-set dials, which are constantly being bumped out of position by whatever move you make.

I was fortunate enough to be able to pawn this off to a gullible acquaintence for close to the price I paid for it. Don't expect to get off that easy if you make the same mistake I did. Save up and purchase a different model - it might be overpriced, but at least it will work.

The watch I received did not match the one pictured. The plastic cover over the watch face was broken when I received the item. I cannot set the watch. This is a cheaply made and horrible product.

Was a present for someone else. Reportedly, it works fine and the recipient was very pleased. Product was as advertised. Thank you.
