5.0 out of 5 stars Full Moon Cigarette, February 20, 2007
This review is from: Full Moon Cigarette (Dig) (Audio CD)
Awesome CD! We happened upon Gran Bell at Killington a few weeks ago. He as a filler in an apres ski party at the Wobbly Barn, and played 5-6 songs. We sat directly overhead the stage, and watched him work his magic on the keyboard. Songs are all original, and very well done.

Highly recommend this purchase!

As soon as Gran Bel Fisher opened his mouth when I saw him open for Brandi Carlile in late May, I knew I had to get my hands on his album. Unfortunatly, I had to preorder it on Amazon until it came out in July, and it has literally not left my CD player since. His songs are heartfelt, and his voice has a great range and extremely expressive. The album does not have a single bad track on it, though ones like "Far Cry" and "Dazey Day" have a bit more depth to them than others. Despite this, each track is amazing and if you don't have this album, I highly recommend it. Also, if you ever have the chance be sure to check out Gran Bel Fisher in concert, as it is an experience you'll never forget.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what the doctor ordered!, November 7, 2006

This is just what I needed. A new cd which I'll likely ruin by listening to it over and over again so many times because it's that good. Not one bad song on Full Moon Cigarette and that speaks volumes in itself of the talent. Also, if you listen for a little longer after the last tune there's a little surprise at the end. One more song. Two thumbs up, awesome CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars NEW find!!!, July 28, 2006
This review is from: Full Moon Cigarette (Dig) (Audio CD)
I recently sampled some audio streams from Gran Bel Fisher's new album "Full Moon Cigarette." I was so impressed by his soft music and melodic voice that I knew I had to instantly buy this CD. The whole album is such a great listen, and I must say I enjoy it most while driving in my car. I would most compare him to Keane or James Blunt. I totally recommend that you all buy this album for your own collection!! It is definately not a disapointment! And make sure to check out my favorite song on the album: "Edible."

and pop this CD in and you'll feel like you're on a road trip to OZ. This guy's got a sound reminiscent of something from the past but with something good from the present. The piano riff's are much to be appreciated. The lyrics are great. I bought this CD sound unheard. Took a chance and came up with gold. The entire body of work does something for me. Every song has melody and merit. This is not a CD to bang your head but rather one for a quiet night home with friends over hanging out enjoying company and a good glass of wine without being pretentious. I think Mr. Fisher is a keeper. I'll be watching him from here on out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better live!, August 24, 2006

I had never even heard of this guy before I saw him open for Corinne Bailey Rae this week, but halfway through his first song I decided to buy his album, and every song he played made me more anxious to get my hands on it (thankfully it was for sale in the lobby). He has such an impressive, strong voice, and there wasn't a weak moment in his set. Still, I expected at least one or two throwaway tracks on the cd, but there weren't any at all. None. Even the goofy little bonus track is well written. This debut cd is not a diamond in the rough, it's polished perfection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep your eyes out for this guy..., March 9, 2007

This guy opened for Aqualung last night in Louisville, KY. I had heard a single of his on the radio and upon entering the bar I thought the guy on stage was playing it as a cover. I looked at the bill and recognized the name...it truly WAS Gran Bel Fisher on stage but with only one other guitarist.

I have NEVER seen two guys on stage create more energy and emotion without a backing band. I went for the headliner and GBF was just as good.

He is touring like crazy now...hooking up his own equipment and carrying it off after his set. If you happen to see his name on a bill in your area do yourself a favor and GO SEE HIM. This guy is gonna go places quick. Remember stories your parents told you about seeing Dylan or The Stones in a little bar before they got big? You'll be saying this about Gran Bel Fisher twenty years from now.

Seriously.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gran Bel Fisher is a breath of fresh air!, December 30, 2006
This review is from: Full Moon Cigarette (Dig) (Audio CD)
Gran Bel Fisher is a wonderful new-comer with tantalizing lyrics/melodies. He is a 24 year old musician right on the verge of going places!

TRACK #2 - Far Cry: "Coin toss is it head or tails/In the fields of Ohio I set my sails"

Track #1, which is Full Moon Cigarette, is my favorite track on the album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Night, September 6, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Full Moon Cigarette (Dig) (Audio CD)
Sabina, Ohio's Gran Bel Fisher has made a great CD with "Full Moon Cigarette." He came to my attention on one of the Amazon lists from another reader; and I'm so glad I ordered the CD. When I first listened, "Edible" was my overwhelming favorite track. Fisher's smooth sound resembles some of the melodies of Jackie Greene on his American Myth CD. The sound is melodic with the airy vocals lifting you up, "One thing's for sure, well I've been down and out, turned upside down and dumped right on out these same old doors, but I come back for more." "Do We Say Bye" is another jewel with great chorus and driving energy, "Quest for reasons drift through the seasons, you never saw spring tumble into fall." "Bound By Love" is another pop diamond with a distinctive melody, "I'm thinking of what could be, where there's a will there's a way, so will you come out & play with me?" "Baby Boy" is a pumping rocker with Fisher's vocals ragged and then suddenly pulling back into a more controlled delivery as if one voice comments on the other, "It was a cold day; He had a hot night with a head full of this & a soul needing that, now you can't go back." Other tracks like "Full Moon Cigarette," "Dazey Day" and the closer "Change" are also strong. This tremendous set is well worth seeking. Bravo!
