4.0 out of 5 stars Worth ten bucks.
Full Moon is the second book in the Dark Guardian series. This story is about Lindsey. Ever since she was little, she was paired up with Connor. And Lindsey has always loved him. But when she is about to turn seventeen, she begins to doubt her feelings for someone else, Rafe. But who does she love more? Connor or Rafe?

Full Moon was a good book but...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good If You're Looking For A Shorter Book
Things I liked:

-Nice, easy, short read. The language is not hard to decipher.

-Forbidden love *sigh* is there anything more romantic? The parts where Rafe & Lindsey are alone, and Lindsey is trying to ignore her feelings for Rafe I quite enjoyed.

-Props for the character names, I liked them all, they are different, but not so...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good If You're Looking For A Shorter Book, August 27, 2009
This review is from: Full Moon (Dark Guardian, Book 2) (Paperback)
Things I liked:

-Nice, easy, short read. The language is not hard to decipher.

-Forbidden love *sigh* is there anything more romantic? The parts where Rafe & Lindsey are alone, and Lindsey is trying to ignore her feelings for Rafe I quite enjoyed.

-Props for the character names, I liked them all, they are different, but not so different that I can't pronounce them. I especially like the name Rafe, as one of my favorite novels (Once Upon A Dream by Katherine Kingsley) has the main character's name as Rafe.

-I never felt bored with the story, which I say is a plus, since it happens in books more than I would like.

-I thought the way Lindsey's feelings where described were accurate, when it came to truly caring about two guys at the same time, how she didn't want to hurt either one of them, trying to please both just ended up hurting herself. I thought it was well done.

Things I Disliked:

-There is a ton of recap, and a lot of explanation that I didn't think was needed since it was explained in the first book. Also some of the explanations of the wolves habits/abilities that was new didn't really need to be there either since you could probably figure out what was going on without it.

-I thought that Lindsey's best friend, Kayla, who is the main character in the first book, was a little annoying in this one, she came off like a mom. Giving Lindsey advice and opinions when it was obvious that Lindsey didn't need it. It's a shame since I really liked Kayla in the first book, and since she didn't grow up with the wolves everything was new to Kayla in the first book, where Lindsey knew pretty much everything about them.

Overall I liked it, I think about the same as I liked the first one but I can't say for sure since it's been awhile since I read it. I look forward to reading the 3rd book Dark Of The Moon, that was released Aug 25.

I give this a solid 3 out of 5, entertaining, but it didn't have anything to go crazy for. I would recommend this series for anyone looking for an easy read, especially if you don't have time to read a longer book.

Full Moon was a good book but Lindsey's indecision and the fact that she couldn't follow her heart/instincts was a little annoying but nonetheless, the story was entertaining and fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars sexy and exciting just for a short read, September 11, 2009
This review is from: Full Moon (Dark Guardian, Book 2) (Paperback)
This was a good book the characters were more interesting than in the first because they shared more alone time together and it just seemed more romantic and forbidden all at the same time throw in a love triangle and it had me hooked rafe seemed so confident and sexy and linds was sweet in not wanting to hurt anyone but im happy with who she eneded up with...... I have the series it was very good i wish the author would have made the books longer with more details and dialogue but they are still good if you want a short read the only other complaint is that after reading the back cover you know the whole book you shouldnt make it so easy to predict or tell it all on the back cover leave some mystery

4.0 out of 5 stars Seriously, just flip a coin and be done with it!, December 28, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Full Moon (Dark Guardian, Book 2) (Paperback)
So, book 2. This time around we focus on Lindsey as she prepares for her first change with pre-destined mate Connor. But oh, snap, Rafe's lookin pretty good too! What's an almost werewolf to do?
Apparently whine about it for 200 pages and be high and mighty for the rest of them. Ok, I did actually like this book. Don't get me wrong, I still liked Kayla's story better, but aside from Lindsey's silly insepid need to MAKE Connor be her mate when clearly it was Rafe, I'm a fan. Her whinning got old, and I did on more than one occasion want to slap her (really Rafe? you sure here?). But Britiney's hiliarious and all in all, this was a fine follow up to a nice new series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light, Fun, and Entertaining Read!, July 29, 2011
This is the second book of the Dark Guardians series. I just love these books...they're a light, fun read with romance and a little bit of danger thrown in that's just perfect for a lazy or rainy day because I can read them in one sitting.

Each book is narrated by a different character and Full Moon is focused solely on Lindsey. Lindsey is a few weeks away from experiencing her first shift on the first full moon after her 17th birthday, which is a special time in the shifter community. This time is meant to be shared with one's mate, but Lindsey isn't so sure that her mate is Conner - a man she's been with for like ever and a man her parents envisioned her with. Lately she has had her eye on Rafe, which I was definitely rooting for...no offense Conner.

While Lindsey is trying to figure out who her true mate is, there's still danger lingering from Moonlight with the scientists who are looking to capture and run tests on the werewolves in order to expose their secrets to the world.

I found that I enjoyed Full Moon much more than I did Moonlight. But overall this is a simple, yet very satisfying, series. If you want something quick and fun to read, I recommend this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Book Bash Review, April 11, 2011
This review is from: Full Moon (Dark Guardian, Book 2) (Paperback)
Unlike our Moonlight heroine, Kayla, Lindsey grew up with full knowledge of the Dark Guardians and their ability to shape shift. As a matter of fact, on the next full moon she will make her first transformation and become a full fledged member of the Dark Guardians.

Our conflict in this story originates with her parents who are elders within the Dark Guardian society. They arranged for her to face her first moon with her long time boyfriend and family friend, Connor (which in their world is more permanent than a marriage certificate). Here we find our next conflict. Lindsey starts to recognize her long time feelings for Rafe (must I point out the oh so gorgeous, dangerous, mysterious attributes?).

What makes this conflict large enough to fill the book is that once a male chooses his mate? This betrothal, if you will, is permanent. Unless, the other suitor is willing to fight to the death to win the female. Obviously, Lindsey is conflicted because she loves Connor but not the way she loves Rafe.

Now, as long as your not an extreme feminist and this seemingly barbaric ritual doesn't offend you, you may find this book a tad more exciting than the first. At least, I did. I was very intrigued to find out how Lindsey, Connor, and Rafe were going to work things out without someone having to die. I would definitely recommend this book for a quick, enjoyable read just as I did the first book.

4.0 out of 5 stars What Miss Kelley Is Reading: [...], October 10, 2010
By
This review is from: Full Moon (Dark Guardian, Book 2) (Paperback)
The characters in Rachel Hawthorne's Dark Guardian series are Shifters, both human and wolf, and they mate for life. The boys undergo their first shift alone, but the girls are betrothed before their first shift, and their chosen mates help them through the transition. Lindsey is betrothed to Connor, the childhood friend chosen by her family, but she can't stop thinking about Rafe. Wcan she decide which of them is really her destiny before the next full moon?

This series is pure romance, and I like that questions about the main relationship are wrapped up by the end of each book. There is an ongoing threat of discovery by the outside world that remains from book to book, but it's easy to follow. The mythology isn't overly complicated, which is something that I really like. These books might not leaving me dying for the next book in the series, but they're definitely a good way to spend a rainy afternoon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too, June 13, 2010
This review is from: Full Moon (Dark Guardian, Book 2) (Paperback)
Lindsey's had her whole life mapped out for her, including her soul mate. Her parents have chosen him and they've grown up together. Connor is in all of her important memories - but lately she's beginning to question if she loves him because she loves him or because they've been pushed together so often that she can't imagine herself without him.

It's no surprise that she's having these thoughts when she can't get Rafe out of her head. His glances leave her breathless - something Connor's never does. She dreams about kissing him.

In her society, mates are chosen after one's 17th birthday to help with the change. The transformation into a werewolf for the first time is a painful process, and having your mate there eases the pain and intensifies the experience.

Lindsey doesn't know who or what to trust. Her friends aren't really a big help, either, because Brittany believes the system is archaic since males go through the transformation without their mates. Plus, Kayla's so disgustingly happy with her mate. How will Lindsey decide something so important and in such a short time - with her heart or her head?

FULL MOON is the second book in the DARK GUARDIAN series. Each book is written from a perspective of a girl in the pack about to transform for the first time, and each takes a different look at love. There's danger lingering over from the first book, with scientists looking to capture and run tests on a werewolf and expose their secrets.

Danger, paranormal, and romance - the perfect combination!
