4.0 out of 5 stars FULL SCALE has the perfect hiphop weight!, February 8, 2007
This review is from: Full Scale (Audio CD)
The 3rd album from Show & AG is probably the best in my opinion. I know the debut was regarded as a classic and the 2nd was darker but equally tight. The reason I prefer this is that it came at a time when hiphop was struggling to put out some real quality albums. It has that boombap feel that many (myself included) think was the best era of rap. Show's production is literally outta this world on so many of the 15 tracks. The only things that stopped this being a 5star classic to me were that A.G. doesnt get enough alone time on the mic to shine b'cuz so many of the tracks have guests such as O.C., Diamond, Finesse, Big L, KRS1, Big Pun and his crew Ghetto Dwellas. Also I have 4 of the tracks "Drop It Heavy", "Time to get this money", "Dignified Soldiers" and "Weekend Nights" already from the D.I.T.C. album. Apart from those minor complaints the album is brilliant. The production is basically big, deep basslines with horns and whiplash inducing beats. The flows are non-stop metaphor laced street rhymes that the Bronx is known for. What else would you expect from the D.I.T.C. crew at the height of their powers?? The track listing and quality of each track are as follows "Themes, Schemes+Dreams" (5/5), "Drop it heavy" (3.5/5), "Q+A" (5/5), "Full Scale" (5/5), "Spit" (5/5), "Time to get this money" (4/5), "Who's the Dirtiest?" (4/5), "Dignified Soldiers" (3.5/5), "Put this in ya system" (4/5), "Raw as ever" (5/5), "Dignified Soldiers (remix)" (4/5), "Weekend Nights" (3.5/5), "Hidden Crates" (5/5), "Hold Mines" (5/5) and "Get Dirty" (4/5). This is 1 seriously under-appreciated and head-nodding album from start to finish. Get it!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars actually a 4.5 album, December 10, 2010

This review is from: Full Scale (Audio CD)
Show & AG are acclaimed members of the DITC crew, who don't need any presentation: they are two prominent icons of the raw street rap made in The Bronx. Full Scale LP is exactly what you would expect from this kind of rap group. In this record, Showbiz, who produced the majority of the tracks, kicks two of his best beats ever (Spit and Full Scale) and generally almost all the instrumentals sound inspired, especially in the first half of the LP...which corresponds to the Full Scale EP! Indeed, the problem of this album is just that the LP's extra-track are less exciting and more anonimous than the Full Scale EP's tracks and often this is because of the beats. AG does his thing during the whole album (he is not one of my favorite, but...whatever) and, anyway, the album contains many home-featurings from the DITC crew (Diamond D, O.C., Finesse, Big L,...) and also two superlative performances of Big Pun and Krs One. All these featurings help, where AG's particular style in rhyming could result a little heavy. Despite the first half of the album is very better than the second one, I highly recommend you to buy this record, because everything here smells like real hip hop.

Listen this cd package is incredible & you better stop slepping before they are all gone & selling for $30 five years from now. You get the original, vinyl only, classic ep PLUS the Greyboy & A.G. records, vinyl only remixes & some great Ghetto Dwellas cuts from the late 90's that Stretch & Bob used to play all the time. Dont skleep this holds up lovely next to Runaway & Goodfellas...After this cop Street Talk..not as great at all as this but still noteworthy none the less..D.I.T.C. 4 ever
