I believe in complete honesty in my reviews, so I would like to make it clear that Anker emailed me and offered this mouse at a 50% discount in exchange for my review of it. I think anyone reading my reviews of other products will conclude that I pride myself in writing an honest and accurate review... Anker or any other manufacturer will not get an undeserved positive review from me if the product does not merit it.

The mouse I've been using for the last two years and will compare to now is the venerable Logitech M510, which many people will be familiar with. The Anker mouse is a little taller (about 1/8 inch), about ½ inch wider where your thumb would rest, and about 3/8 inch shorter in overall length. The mouse pictured on the Amazon product page has a medium blue color to it, but the mouse I received is such a dark blue that it looks almost black. It still looks good, but I know some people place a much larger importance on appearance than I do and it is something potential buyers should be aware of. This is also an area Anker might want to make a priority in addressing.

Upon installing a single AA battery into the mouse and inserting the USB receiver into the computer port, the first thing I noticed is that the default pointer speed of this mouse is VERY fast. Moving the mouse one quarter inch on my mouse pad moved the pointer from one side of my 17" screen to the other. After playing with the mouse pointer settings in Windows 8, I found that I was most comfortable with the speed slider set at about 75% versus 100% with the Logitech M510, and the "improve pointer accuracy" box checked.

******* To change DPI modes with the mouse, simply press the clear button on the top of the mouse while it is already awake.

Full disclosure: I'm an Anker power user. At the time of purchase this mouse's listed price was twenty bucks. They provided me, and I fathom other power users, a coupon which cut the price in half. I see now that the current listed price is ten bucks. At that price point this is a five-star mouse, without a doubt. At twenty bucks I'd have to give it 4 stars because of the competition at that price point.

I had a Logitech M305 previously - but recently gave it to a colleague whose mouse died on them while on a client visit. I paid just a tad over twenty bucks for that mouse and also gave it a very favorable review, so I'm going to be using it for some of my comparisons.

The Anker IR Wireless mouse, as others have stated, is quite comfortable for me as well. At home I use my Logitech G9X (loaded with the heaviest weights and the larger grip) and find the level of comfort pretty close to that mouse. Obviously it doesn't weigh as much, and the weight was an immediate concern for me when I removed the mouse from the packaging, but after putting the AA battery the weight was just fine.

This can go both ways. If you're in the market for a wireless mouse it's quite possible you'll be travelling with the mouse. If that's the case...then you may find this mouse to be bigger than you'd like. The logitech M305 is quite small indeed. But again, to make this mouse smaller would compromise the comfort that it gives.

Button Layout:
Button layout is pretty typical of what you'd see with this type of mouse. I love the thumb buttons and habitually use them for web navigation.

This is a brand new product at the time I'm writing this review (March 2013). So new, it's not even listed on Anker's own website. So I'm operating it just by having plugged in the USB dongle, and it's operating as a standard mouse, no Anker drivers involved.

Anyway, I see it having some potential, but that remains to be seen. As of right now, it's the 2nd day I've owned it, and it hasn't woken up for day 2, following the computer going into standby overnight. It worked reasonably well yesterday, but didn't quite decide to wake up today. I'm reasonably knowledgeable, so I've unplugged the USB, tried several other "usual" things, no luck yet. According to the writeup It attempts to be fancy by not having an on-off button, it allegedly wakes itself up, but I suspect that's why it's not working for me today.

UPDATE: 1 day later - I've decided this product has to be returned. However, let me add a few new comments.

I didn't mention above, that unplugging/replugging the USB transceiver would lead to the computer recognizing it was removed/plugged in, and also the top button on the mouse itself would light up when I pressed, so both devices were at least partly operational after my troubles began. In addition to all the other things I tried, I also restarted my computer, and further tried the mouse on another computer. After a restart, the mouse worked again, temporarily, except when I moved the mouse up, the pointer goes off to the side, when I move off to the side, the pointer goes down, etc. I could pivot the mouse and point the top 90 degrees to the left to get the pointer to move where I was moving the mouse. On the second computer, the mouse didn't work for a while, then started working, with extreme delays. As in, it still doesn't work properly.
