Product Description

Size: Full

The Fold-a-bed full size frame works with any standard full size mattress. THE PERFECT GUEST BED - Our exclusive design allows the Fold-a-bed to quickly and easily fold up for out of the way storage when not in use. This surprizingly light weight frame was engineered with stability and easy portibility in mind. ABOUT POPLAR HARDWOOD - The Fold-a-bed frame is made of smooth, clean, unfinished poplar hardwood. The wood has been kiln dried and planed on 4 sides to be smooth to the touch. The wood takes stain or paint exceptionally well but most of our customers elect to leave it as is and enjoy the beauty of natural wood. ***IMPORTANT NOTICE - This item requires assembly, we include all hardware and step-by-step instructions.

Easy to assemble, very sturdy.

Make sure you have an electric screwdriver, and a rubber mallet was a great suggestion.

The recent Hurricane here on the Gulf Coast brought along more than the usual number of overnight guests and, smart woman that I sometimes am, I quickly realized we needed a portable guest bed. DH suggested we find an old-fashioned roll-away, but a thorough internet search only reminded us of all the drawbacks-- huge size, spring-y uncomfortable base, and a folded mattress of questionable comfort. We happen to actually like our guests and wanted something both safe and non-slippy for elderly relatives and comfortable enough for evacuee's and other longterm company.

Hesitant to order anything without reading other user reviews and/or comments, we decided to consider this a hundred dollar experiement and donate it to one of the young adults in the family if it turned out to be particularly icky.

When the box arrived, my poor heart sunk-- such a tiny box meant a thousand pieces to assemble! Sure enough, the entire frame comes completely unassembled. Fortunately, the instructions are clear and very well written and once I sorted out the pieces, assembly took only 20 minutes with a rubber mallet and a cordless screwdriver(and I'm not particularly handy.) Each piece was smooth and beautifully crafted. Holes were in exactly the right location, in just the right size and the manufacturer thoughtfully included two extra wooden dowels and several extra wood screws. After years of assembling cheap crap, this was pure joy~

We couldn't be happier with this frame. It's well made, folds up into a compact unit that fits easily against the wall in our walk-in closet and could be slid under any bed. It's solid-- I'll never worry about putting an older adult or child on it-- and it sits the perfect distance from the floor.

Recently having to move because I returned to graduate school, I needed a cheap bed frame for a spare futon mattress we had since I would be temporarily moving from our home. This product is perfect, when I'm done with my temporary living situation, this will make a great guest bed for visitor over-flow occasions, but it's definitely sturdy and comfortable enough for me use as my primary bed. The wood really looks nice as it is, but I wish I had time to stain or finish the wood before I assembled it--it would look even nicer.

Some details that might help you:

- With my mattress the bed surface is 20.5" from the ground.
- I built it and had my bed made within one hour.
- I strongly recommend using an electric screwdriver of some kind (borrow one if you have to). I assembled this without one, no problem, but it took longer than it needed to and I was grateful for the rubbery grip on my screwdriver when I finished screwing 20 wood-screws into the wood. That said, they did pre-drill the holes and I did accomplish the task... just had sore hands.

I moved a couple months ago, and found that my new bedroom was SUPER small. Thus I decided the best bet for the space would be a minimal platform bed frame. I looked at what Ikea had (normally my go-to option for cheap hip furniture), but all their frames were too framey - plus I've had some bad luck with the quality of their furniture in recent years. When I found this frame on Amazon, it fit my criteria, and the reviews looked promising. I am so happy I decided to order it! The wood is nice - I was lazy and just left it as is - it was greenish when it first arrived, but as the instructions promised, it quickly turned wood-tone. It was easy to put together - I did it all by myself and it didn't take long. The frame feels sturdy under my nice mattress - and the mattress seems evenly supported (the mattress is directly on the frame - nothing added). I expect to enjoy the folding feature next time I need to move --- I think the bed is too big and heavy to be folding/unfolding/moving it as a guest frame, but it's perfect amount of portability for someone who moves a lot or someone who may find that they need to store it for a period of time. Anyway, it's a great buy, I love mine!

I loved putting the pieces of the bed frame together. The wood was smooth and everything fit together nicely. Great quality.
The only thing that could be an issue is that there is not much under bed clearance. I can fit shoe box height shoes under the bed frame, but not much else.

Still, I love this bed frame. I would purchase again.
I have a memory foam mattress directly on top of the frame.
Best I have slept in my life.

I put this together myself and it probably only would've taken half an hour except six of the wood dowels were broken. I really don't think them shipping it with some of them inserted was a good idea. After taking an hour to go to Home Depot to buy more dowels and coming back I was able to remove five of them with pliers but one was broken so badly and so far down that I spent half an hour with my cordless drill grinding away at it. After sanding down the wood that was splintering near two holes and making it difficult to get the pieces to fit correctly (thankfully I didn't need to run out again) the rest of putting it together was easy. After all that work, yes it looks to me like it will last but I shouldn't have had to deal with broken pieces.
