4.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST book on full time RVing written to date
This book is written with a lot of first hand knowledge of all areas of living full time in an RV. It is also written for and by average people who do not have an unlimited income and therefore must keep an eye on the most efficient means to an end. They not only "talk the talk" but have "walked the walk" I have given away two other recent books...

2.0 out of 5 stars Outdated Book With A Little Bit of Useful Information
This started out seeming like a pretty good book, but as I got further into it just got more and more out of date. Subjects like computers, Internet, satellite systems, and RV systems are just really old. I wish I had paid the [...] bucks for a used version of it because that was about all it was really worth to me. I could have probably found most of this information on...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Full-time RVing Book to Date!, January 6, 1999
By A Customer
We own and have read a half-dozen of the newer full-time RVing books we have found. This new third edition of Bill and Jan's book is the most detailed and useful that I have yet to find. I can look an books after I am done and can tell how useful they are by how many folded page corners there are and how much yellow highlighting I had done. This one is tops. The latest in communications are covered, some of the best discussion on floorplans I have seen, and more.

This one is a must read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good introduction to all aspects of RVing full-time., April 24, 2004
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have several books on RVing full-time, as I plan to do in the next 2-3 months. This book provides an excellent overview of what it is like, what aspects of RVing are unique to full-timers, and just enough personal anecdotes to be very entertaining and useful.

I would highly recommend this book if you are not very familiar with RVing and only intend to purchase and read a few books.

Please keep in mind that the authors, although they cover all types of RVing, have a definate slant towards 5th wheels. If you are definately not planning to have a 5th wheel, you should at least explore alternatives. But even then, it may be worth purchasing.

Happy travels!

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Information for Living Full-Time in an RV, January 30, 2006
My husband wanted to try full-time RVing, but I was too attached to having a house. Anyone trying to make that decision, needs to read this book.
It helps you figure the costs of such a lifestyle and how to deal with mail, licenses, and medical issues without a home base. Two chapters cover selecting an RV for full-timing. Then it addresses adjusting the RV to your special needs and what to do about storage. Five chapters cover the care of the RV (electrical systems, water, sewage, etc.). There are sections on driving, security, and selecting campgrounds.
We're talking about more than 500 pages of solid information here. It's essential for full-time RVers and quite useful for even part-time RVers.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Basics, soup-to-nuts, June 4, 2004
This review is from: Full-Time RVing: A Complete Guide to Life on the Open Road (Paperback)
Author of DISCOVER AMERICA DIARIES: 50 STATES, 50 STATES OF MIND

This is *the* all-inclusive RV handbook with chapters such as, Getting Started, Selecting the Rig, Driving Practices, Safety and Security, Making the RV More Livable, and a complete cost breakdown of just about everything you could possibly encounter.

I bought this book as a reference tool and companion piece while traveling the 50 states and to complement the other RV book I bought, Freewheelin' USA . Where Freewheelin' USA is written in a storytelling fashion to prepare one psychologically for the RV lifestyle, Full-Time RVing is a no- nonsense detailed handbook that guides the reader every step of the way. Neatly categorized, it delves more deeply into what to expect from living in a house on wheels, equipping novice RVers for all that could (and probably will) go wrong.

My favorite quote is, "The first day you set off you may think that Murphy's Law . . . was invented just for you."

On our first day out, we hit a tornado and the window blew off our brand new RV.

4.0 out of 5 stars Older book but some good information, July 14, 2007
This is an older book on RV living and as such it doesn't have much if anything in the way of solar for power, satellite dish for TV and computer use or other off the grid living information one needs in 2007+. But the information on mail, medical, fees for various things, and what type of floor plan for an RV vs a trailer are helpful. Am still looking for a newer book and one that speaks to the single woman who travels in an RV and alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read if you are considering fulltime RVing, November 25, 1998
By A Customer
I found this book answered all the questions I had about living on the road fulltime. Somethings that were mentioned I have not even considered. If you love to travel in an RV, regardless of the amount of time you spend Rving, then this book is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "must have" for the RV enthusiast!, October 28, 2004
This was our "introduction" to the RV world and became our "what-to-do-now" bible on the road. The Moeller's cover everything you need to know about your RV and lots of common sense advice about living on the road. "Live Your Road Trip Dream: Travel for a year for the cost of staying home" was written to help would-be travelers get from dreaming about a long road trip, to actually doing the trip of a lifetime. The Moeller's give you the nuts and bolts of doing it--The Complete Guide is a must-have traveling companion.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read RV book, April 29, 1998
By
This review is from: Full-Time RVing: A Complete Guide to Life on the Open Road (Paperback)
Lots of practical, frugal approaches to RV living and travel. While the book primarily describes the pros of full time RVing by travel trailer and 5th wheel, it was worth more than the purchase price. Lots of tips on how to make inexpensive modifications to your RV to make it far more livable and easier to clean. Points out the shortcomings of many popular floor plans, and their preferred floorplan for comfortable RV living. Although I have no plans to become a full time RVer, the different perspective changed my mind on the type of RV I will eventually buy, saving me from an expensive mistake. Some of the information appears dated since the book's publication in 1993 - cell phones, satellite TV changes - so don't make this your only RV book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful and pleasant to read., December 25, 2000
I really liked this book. It doesn't get so full of jargon it's unreadable- a problem with some similar books I've read. It explains RVing clearly to beginners like me but it also goes into technical detail for the more advanced. Just an all around useful book to have.
