5.0 out of 5 stars Full Metal Action
this game is awsome,if your a fan of the series you'll definately like the game, you can use alchemy to make all kinds of weapon and even give the weapons special abilities. The game follows the series well, even if you've never seen the show you'll find this game addicting. The only draw back I found is that Al can't jump very well and the characters run kind of slow,...

3.0 out of 5 stars decent game, June 21, 2005
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel (Video Game)
For people that arent aware this game goes hand in hand with the Fullmetal Alchemist anime series. So if you havent seen that and are planning to get this game then i'd hold off on that. With that being said for the amount time it took me to finish this game. I believe that it was time maybe not well spent but it wasnt a waste of time either. I only had a couple issues with the game one being the controls are a bit on the wacked out side and the other being the AI of your character partner. I dont know how many times. I was screaming at the TV for him to come to my aid and he keeps saying "okay" like a thousand times and wouldnt come over. Or he would and i'd be trying to get around him and he's blocking my path.

I mean dont get me wrong i did enjoy being able to change items into different ones and make new weapons to own the various enemies that you face. But for me to have a partner they should be actively contributing to the battle not watching me. Get swarmed by a horde of enemies not that they were hard. But what's the point. The story again follow the anime series so you kind of need to get into that beforehand, graphics are decent not really top notch but crappy. The levelling system didnt seem like it made any real difference in the game to me.

I rarely ever had problems getting past an enemy or a level. Only a rare occasion usually due to my own error. Was able to finish the game in a few sittings. I got sucked in by the story and when it was all said and done. I feel that it was an okay purchase, but i wouldn't pay 49.99 for it. I'd wait til it was cheaper or rent the game over a long weekend.

Hope the second one is a bit better than this one.

I love the voice overs! I think it's great they kept the same voices from the Anime.
*cough*
Well anyway, this game is pretty fun. It's impressive how you can focus a park bench into like... a javelin or something. That's one of the main things that gives the game it's edge.

It's real time battling can be pretty intense. You could be surrounded by multiple enemies and beaten to a pulp in no time.
The story line is so-so from what I played (I haven't finished it yet). I wish they would make that more interesting. I mean, that's what give me the motivation to actually PLAY the game.

One thing I didn't like was it was too easy to get stuck. The dungeons were confusing; you could take a million turns and STILL not get there yet. Another was you simply don't know where to go next.

I'm going to have to read a walkthrough for this game... but I'll finish this game someday.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is #1!!!, April 1, 2005
This review is from: Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel (Video Game)
When I just started to play I was already addicted to the game. The bosses look good(exept for that ugly boss that cammila makes in the end) and the story is perfect. The best part has to be the fighting style. Its very easy to fight any enemy but some need a certain type of weapon to do great damage and almost all the bosses don't require a complicated plan. Sometimes you might get lossed(you might get lossed a lot in the cave and in New Hiessgart Castle) but you normally find your way out in 10 minutes. All around this game is very fun and very addicting and it is my favorite game right now and I reccomend this game to all Full Metal Alchemist fans out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full Metal Alchemist Broken Angel is not as bad as you would think..., May 28, 2006

This review is from: Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel (Video Game)
Well I was having my doubts about getting this game, because I noticed a lot people did give some bad reviews on it, that it was just plain awful...But in my opinion I thought of this game as rather interesting and entertaining. I believed it had a good and touching story behind it, and all the written dialogue given in it, makes it even more entertaining. I beat this game today, so I thought it would be reasonable to leave this review now.

All can say is if you are fan of Full Metal Alchemist, then this game should be a must for you. It doesn't follow off the anime series, but it has just as much action in it, as does the series. The only CON I would see in this game, is some of boss fighting is a little repetive (sp? repeating), but other then that...Nothing else. The graphics were exceptal to me. The animation clips were awesome, which was one of my favorite things to see in the game. And overall of beating it, I enjoyed it very much. 5 Stars up! I now noticed I can't take all reviews answers from it, so if you are one of those edgy people that has doubts like me, my best advice would be either to buy it or rent it. Luckily I wasn't disappointed when I bought this game, so I kept it. :)

More for you hack and slash hack and slash people. It's not like there's no strategy in it though. Alchemy is needed is various places, and it's always useful to know how to beat a boss character without losing 10's of elixers.
The storyline in itself is awesome. If you're not into the game within the first hour or so, you probably won't like the rest of it. The only thing I might warn you about is the cave. If you're hating the game because of the cave (you'll see what I'm talking about later) don't quit. This place was the most frustrating place out of the whole game for me, so don't feel bad if you need a loooooong break when you're stuck inside it.
The gripes I have about the game though... It was a bit too short. It took me 12 hours to finish the whole game. Of course, I probably skipped 100's of treasures, and I got horrible alchemist levels...
The storyline more than makes up for it though. If you don't at least feel like crying at the end of the game... were you watching the whole time?

Overall this was an awesome awewsome game that everyone who's a FMA fan and everyone who just wants an amazing game to play, that doesn't involve incredulous amounts of strategy.
...Keep in mind that this game is rated T for Teen for language and suggestive themes among other things. Emphasis on the suggestive themes on one of the costumes one of the people wear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whether you are a fan of the show or like RPGs, in my opinion this is definitely a five star game., July 30, 2006
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

First off, I should note that if you do not want to know about the story line you should skip this review entirely. I like to be specific and give information but do not worry; I will not give away the big surprises.

First, this game has an amazing story line. Second, the game has a terrific combat system. Also, the characters are very interesting in many different ways.

The story for the series and the game revolves around the Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, who are looking for the philosophers stone to remove the effects of an alchemy experiment gone wrong. However, the game does not start at the beginning of the series.

The game starts on a train that is attacked by a band of ex-military alchemists. Then a ruthless senior colonel derails the train. Next, the Elric brothers come to the town of Hiessgart where the famous alchemist, Professor Eiselstein lives. The brothers have visited him several years before and discover that the town has been taken over by viscous beasts. At the town church, they meet the pastor. He informs them that Professor Eiselstein and the town's people have constructed the town of New Hangueist.

In New Hiessgart, they meet a girl named Armony who they later discover is living with Professor Eiselstein. She tells them that the Professor is living in a castle in New Hiessgart. After they arrive at the castle a series of mysterious events takes place that leave questions that must be answered.

The game has an exciting story line with interesting characters that really makes it terrific. The game is filled with interesting realistic conversations that help you solve mysteries and raise new ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teen's Review, July 6, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel (Video Game)
Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel is in short awesome, just like the series on which it is based. It took me about ten hours to complete the fist try of my game, and I've played it over twice in search of treasures I missed, so, as you can see, it has good replay value.

Turning things into weapons was awesome. Who ever knew a lamppost could be so deadly? The graphics were a bit choppy, yes, but I never focused on that aspect. The storyline was the part of the game that pulled me in, and I wanted to cry at the end. If you don't want to cry at the end, you are either heartless, or have paid no attention.

I would give this game ten stars if I could!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Die-Hard Fans, July 18, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel (Video Game)
Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel lets you play as a pair of brothers who practice the art of alchemy. This magic-like system lets them create weapons from nearby objects and adds interest to their battles.

They key here really is that the game is *perfect* for fans of the anime series. It has the same characters, a lovely cel shaded look to it, great dialogue, fun voices, and draws you into the storyline.

When you're having battles you get fun options to create mini-guns and other weapons out of items lying around. It adds some variety to what you're doing.

You primarily control Ed, the "short" brother (who goes ballistic any time he's called that). You supposedly get support from Al, the robot-body brother, but this rarely works the way it should. This was much better handled in the sequel, where Al would actually attack on his own and help you out.

There is a LOT of dialogue and cut scene watching in this. At one point in the beginning I actually wondered if I had put in a playing DVD by mistake and would never get a chance to do something. It does get better as you go through the game, but it is very much a "moving story" that you watch as well as play.

People who have never seen the series before will probably be confused and not appreciate a lot of what is going on. The target audience for this is clearly someone who knows the series, knows the story, loves the characters and wants to interact with them. Those players will be very forgiving about the waves of copy-cat enemies, the lack of RPG upgrades (despite earning experience points and leveling up) and the linear levels.

Well recommended for fans. They'll love it. Non-fans will probably do better with similar games that don't expect you to already know the lore.

Rating: 4/5 for fans
