Living Each Day In Jesus Name,
By
This review is from: Fully Devoted (Paperback)
Our women's ministry recently utilized this book to kick off our Pursuing Spiritual Transformation series. Fully Devoted is the overview book for the Pursuing Spiritual Transformation series by John Ortberg. There are five books in this series and each topic is overviewed in this edition. The goal of spiritual transformation is to become more like Jesus through the study of His word, the Bible and to apply it/live it in our everyday lives. The lessons are divided into four sections: introduction, spiritual exercise, Bible study, and take away. The book also contains a leader's guide in the book which I have found to be most helpful. I would highly recommend this study either for those who are seekers/believers. However some of the other books in the series are designed only for believers.

My small group moved into deeper waters by studying this book together. There are challenges for all levels of spirituality. We plan on returning to this book in another year or so. It explains the Willow Creek Churches 5G's (Grace, Group, Growth, Gifts, and Good Stewardship) and how to use each one as a stepping stone to your personal devotion with the Lord. May the Lord bless you through this study series.

This is an excellent book for spiritual growth. Although it is geared towards a group setting, it also is excellent for individuals. This is the basis of some of the "megachurch" growth, but I think that has gotten a bad rap. Much of that growth is genuine and it is the (bad) copy-cats that give them a bad reputation (I have been in churches of all sizes and currently in a small-medium sized church). The basis is a sincere desire to walk with God. That is paramount. This book builds on the stepping stones of many other spiritual successes, which is often quite different than the world's definition of success (number, appearance, human-focus). This book is well-written and easy to read. It is short, so many of the chapters can be read in a matter of minutes.

If you want to explore your own spirituality from a Bible based Christian perspective, this book will keep you honest with yourself during your inquiry. Great book for small groups.

This is a good book for our small group study. We are about half way through the book. This chapters are short (3-5 pages), but there is a lot of research/homework in the questions for each week. (More intensive than other small group study books.) I'm enjoying this and would choose another book by John Ortberg again.
