I bought this cd for 34 cents at a used CD store and was very pleasantly surprised at it... Definately the best deal ever on a CD. All the songs have the slightly rough but very pleasant smooth punk sound I enjoy... All the songs are great, but so far the best two are 2. Fun and 3. House on the Top of the Hill. The Candy Skins are reminscent of Better Than Ezra, except a lot more pessimistic and with a light dash of the Foo Fighters. Actually they're not really like Better Than Ezra. In short, anyone who enjoys the attitude of punk but doesn't -require- that it be loud and grinding will enjoy this CD. It's just... music! Good music!

I happen to come across this tape way back in the day and decided to listen to it. This is not the kind of music I normally listen to....but I loved it just the same. It is upbeat and alternative. The music that I listened to at the time I found this tape were everything from temple of the dog, cranberries, and breeders, to metallica, nine inch nails, and white zombie. This is not like any of these bands....but I loved this tape just the same. I've been looking for this album for the last year and I'm glad to see that they still have it out there. Go CandySkins!

Buy this album!,

This is one of my favorite albums. That's saying something because I have a ridiculously large collection of music. I think it was in '98 or '99 that I found the cd in a used cd store and bought it for a dollar, solely because I liked the name and the cover art. To my surprise I absolutely loved it.
The band has a punk pop sound that's fairly light but contrasts beautifully with the often ironic, pessimistic lyrics. Even after listening to the album over and over I still find something new in each song. The lyrics are brilliant and have a depth that honestly surprised me. They complement the music, adding more shades of meaning. This is one of the few albums I like to listen to from start to finish. It really is that good. I can't believe this band never found commercial success. I just added them as a friend on Myspace. They have around 360 friends, which illustrates how little success they attained, even after releasing several albums. Buy this album. You won't be disappointed.

Candy Skins were unfortunately lost in the "alternative" sea of Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, and others. Seriously, this is a great album from start to finish. Worth every cent, even if you find it for just one, lol. Very catchy tunes, well produced brit-pop band that is still fresh some 13 years later.
