For my Twins (boy & girl) 3rd birthday, my husband and I booked a local Pirate Ship cruise for kids - the company did an absolutey amazing job by the way! (if you can imagine 24, 3yr olds on a boat with their parents. Being the silly mommy that I am, and knowing that the Pirate ship cruise company was going to provide loaner costumes for all the kids (including face painting, if the kids wanted it) I decided that they each needed a hat and some jeweled coin pirate necklaces to wear that day and keep. The hats were great for what they were. Basic felt hats. They fit all of the kids well, even the older cousins. I did modify some of them to create girl pirate hats. I used little pink ribbon flowers from the craft store to go on the side of the skull (like a flower in the hair) and of course a bit of bling with self adhesive jewels too. Overall, the kids loved their hats. The only negative about the product was that the glue that they used messy and left bits on the felt. Most of this I was able to scrape off, but of the 24 hats 7 had this problem. It was more annoying than anything else. I did look at a wide variety of other pirate hats and for the money these were the best I could find. I would recommend them if you have little ones who wish to become pirates.
Also, please note -- The party was at the end of June and its November, so they have really held up well. (The kids keep me on my toes so I am bit behind in my reviews lol). In this case though that is actually helpful!
