Adele Woodyard won Pen Women awards for her poetry (which she doesn't write), sold her first short story in 1970, and five more between 1990 and 2007; four of them appear in her book, The Shell and the Starfish and other stories, pub. 2011. One mystery novel is close to publication and a mystery/suspense is in the works. Although fiction is her first love, she still had to look for wider markets and faster money; Adele has also been a freelance journalist from 1988--present. A member of American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA)her articles, travel features and photos have appeared in such national mags as AARP the Magazine, History Channel Magazine, Delta SKY, Backpacker, to name a few, and such newspapers as the St. Petersburg Times, Miami Herald, and Chicago Sun-Times, among others. The New Jersey native has led occasional workshops on travel (at least one student actually publshed), and specialized in Florida people and places. She has written features and regular Florida travel column for one magazine for over three years; an Insiders Guide report for a book on cruises, and currently, turns out a weekly blog on things to see and do in the Sunshine State: www.vacationfunflorida.wordpress.com. Her upcoming book features Florida daytrips where the fun costs $10 or less, sometimes nohing at all.
