Hands on grammar!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Fun with Grammar: 75 Quick Activities & Games that Help kids Learn About Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs & More (Paperback)
I have many grammar activity books, but this is definitely the best! It includes many ideas for learning grammar in a way kids don't even realize they are learning because they are having so much fun doing them! For example, my students loved to make "animal prepositional poems". I had another teacher borrow the book, and she bought it herself! With this book you are teaching quality not quantity.

Not what I expected for homeschool,

If you are looking for a workbook with pages to do, this is not it. I guess this would be "Fun with Grammer" if you have more than one child. It's mainly games you can play to learn grammer, which takes more than one child to play. Classrooms and larger groups could benefit greatly with this book.

I'm such a loser. I bought this for a co-worker and ended up keeping it myself. It was just too good to pass along. Call me selfish but this collection of grammar activities has carried me through many a school year. My students learn, and since they have fun, they don't mind learning anymore. I highly recommend this book for teachers and parents who want to help their children improve their grammar skills.

Repetition of activities,

Overall there were some good ideas in this book, but many of the activities are repeated - just modified to suit the topic such as Tic-Tac-Toe, Acrostic poems, Don't Say It and one where you read out a story and the students put their hands up when they hear for example a prepositional phrase.

Great fun for questionable people!,
This review is from: Fun with Grammar: 75 Quick Activities & Games that Help kids Learn About Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs & More (Paperback)
I'm a teacher myself. I've taught all sorts of kids all sorts of things! Well, this Sunley character is quite a case. Looking through the book, some of the activities are great fun, but some are a notch or two away from questionable. For instance, activity number 7-A4 (she uses a solid and reliable numbering system with fun little characters forcing others into the shapes of numbers, she doesn't use cute and fun names like other authors, but it works) involves the female students and male students lining up on different sides of the room. Once the females are ready, they each get to throw a piece of clay at the boys, shouting out a verb. Once all the boys are on the ground, the girls win.

Great addition to the classroom. Adds some fun and creativity to teaching grammar in the elementary classroom. Easy to prepare for activities.
