Its ok, BUT...,
This review is from: Fun with Hypnosis: The Complete How-To Guide (Paperback)
Fun With Hypnosis is ok, It does explain some of the basics of hypnosis, and it gives a short history as well, it even gives you a few scripts. But this is not a good book for you to begin your understanding of hypnosis. When I first started with hypnosis I bought this book first. I wish I hadnt. It was dissapointing. A better choice for the new hypnotist or the curious is Hypnotherapy by David Elman, or Hypnosis for change by Josie Hadley and Carol Staudacher, or even Handbook of Hypnotic Suggestions and Metaphors by D. Corydon Hammond (Its worth it for anyone that is interested in clinical hypnosis.) I have bought over 35 books on the subject. And this one is the one I disliked the most. I hope this helps. Good Luck and Good Day!

Be careful when reading customer reviews,
By A Customer

The book has a few hypno scripts and that's it. (hypno scripts are available everywhere from the net for FREE) Unfortunately he is not Professor Svengali and his real name is David Geliebter, again if the name is real at all. When an author does not even put his/her real name on the cover of a book, it sure tells something about the quality of it, especially with reader reviews filled with phrases such as "Must buy it" or "The Best Book." If I were to spend my hard earned money on learning hypnosis, the best is to learn it from a real person and stick with books written by the real professional such as Ormond McGill. Also always check out net resources (e.g. FAQ) for hypno book recommendation before buying any.

I have bought a few books on hypnotism and this is the worse one. Sure it gives you some scripts to use but if your actually interested in understanding hypnosis I would find another book.

Fun Book for Aspiring Stage Hypnotists,
This review is from: Fun with Hypnosis: The Complete How-To Guide (Paperback)
This book is fun and easy to read. It has a wide selection of suggestibility tests, inductions and routines for stage hypnosis. It does not deal with therapeutic aspects of hypnosis.
Even if you're not interested in stage hypnosis, you can still benefit from learning suggestibility tests and inductions. Using suggestibility tests will make a great difference when you're using hypnosis on others because they help you to discover the level of rapport you have with the person, the person's willingness and ability to use his imagination, and they also serve as "convicers" for the person that he has been "hypnotized", making the person more receptive to further suggestions. In the end, suggestibility tests, determine the person's willingness to play along at any given time. If they are not in mood to play along at one time, they may be in better mood to play along at some other time - so you don't need to make any definite conclusions regarding the hypnotizability of a particular person. Everyone is hypnotizable - just different people may prefer to get into a trance in a different ways at different times. The book continues with different inductions and deepeners you can use. It's good to experiment with all of them as they can all come in handy at some point. The variety of methods will also keep learning hypnosis fun. After the section of routines you can do in stage hypnosis, there is a small section of self-hypnosis - how you can use hypnosis to deal with some common issues. There is much more both to stage hypnosis, and to applications of hypnosis, so when you're finished with this book - keep learning. When you're done with this book, if you want to learn more about "stage hypnosis" get Ormond McGill's Encyclopedia of Hypnosis.

When I got the book and read it. I wasn't sure I could do it but I did. It was so COOL! I hypnotised someone the first time and tried it. It really isn't hard at all. You have to be confident. Anyways, you can basically get them to do anything. It also has chapters on self hypnosis, testing, and it gives you rules that help you out. Absolutely the best book out there!

Believe it or not, it really works!,
This review is from: Fun with Hypnosis: The Complete How-To Guide (Paperback)
I was very skeptical about hypnosis when I first picked up this book. After reading it once, I was able to induce very deep trances on some of my coworkers. They experienced amnesia, illusions, and hallucinations. This book made a believer out of me! Don't spend $400+ on lengthy courses, this book is all you'll need!

First Try and it WORKS! A Must buy book!,
This review is from: Fun with Hypnosis: The Complete How-To Guide (Paperback)
Thats right my first try after reading this book, and it works. It only took me about an hour or so to read the book and my first and second subjects I tried hypnosis on were completly under my control. The first thing I tried was to have my subject for get his last name, and then to forget his first name. With a quick snap of my fingers the subject he was awake and unable to remember which ever part of his name I had told him to forget no matter how hard he tried he just couldnt say it! This book is very very good, easy to read and understand. This is the first book that I have read on hypnosis and at first I was really wondering if I could really do it, but when it came time for me to try I had no problem at all having my subject give in to any command I gave him. This is a must for parties, or anywere. Its very fun to perform and a really good way to help people relive stress. After my first and second subjects were awakend from there hypnotic state they were in a really good mood with nothing on there mind but relacation. If you buy any book make it this one!

This book is a true gem. Despite the authors inability to spell and punctuate, it serves it's purpose. A collegue of mine is a certified hypnosis instructor and offers classes and is able to certify and license people. He was skeptical, but after reading this book, and with no... classes, I pased his test and am now a certified hypnotist. By following the book's instruction carefully, I truly believe anyone can hypnotise people. Since buying this book, I have tried over 50 times to hypnotise people and have never failed! I am the hit of every party and you can be too. GET THIS BOOK!
