There are a total of 6 stencils to trace: an engine, a passenger car, a boxcar, a coal car, a flat car, and a caboose. They are made of plastic which is pretty durable. They could rip because of the cut out from the stencils, but they should hold up pretty well. I've had no issues with my 4 year old. There are perforated edges at the top of each stencil. The book's measurements are 4 1/8" by 5 3/4", the engine's measurements are 3 3/4" by 2 1/8", the passenger car's measurements are 4 3/8" by 1 3/4", the boxcar's measurements are 4 1/8" by 1 5/8", the coal car's measurements are 1 3/4" by 1 1/4", the flat car's measurements are 4 1/8" by 1", and the caboose's measurements are 3 1/4" by 2". Smaller than what most would expect, but accurate considering the cost is just over a dollar. I've attached photos to show what stencils are included. Please see the 9 customer images for the photos. Hope this helps!

There are six train car stencils here, cut into heavy laminated paper. All are disconnected stencils, having separations between elements; I think this style is particularly effective in wall or furniture stencilling. The specific stencils are: an engine (approximately 2 inches high and 4 inches long), a passenger car (5 inches long and 2 high), a boxcar (5 by 2), a coal car, or tender (2.5 by 1.5), a flatcar (5 by 1), and a caboose (4 by 2). The engine is pictured on the cover. Connections between the cars DO line up with each other. They are a nice size for preschooler art projects but, depending on your project, you might want to shrink these basic designs. You can't beat this price for getting some good basic stencils.

The designs themselves are wonderful, my son will enjoy them. They are much smaller than I anticipated, the book itself has the measurements of 4 3/16 x 5 3/4 but that's the total size of the book, the stencils contained within are smaller, right around about 3 long x 2 tall. The material is heavier than just a piece of paper but it can easily be torn.

Yes, the book is small. Yes, the pages are flimsy. But I think what I like least of all is that most of the trains are basically a long rectangle or a long oval with a few small wheel circles. Boring trains. The best train is the one on the cover; the rest are boring.

This was OK, it was a small pocket-size book and there are a number of train types. The stencil cutout edges still had some bits hanging from the manufacturing, but it was easy enough to clean out. Think you could make something similar easily enough with card stock & a craft knife, but for something that cost less than two dollars, it's fine.

My 4.5 year old son loves trains and he loves to be able to use these to draw his own. It's easy for him to get them on a page and trace. I've taught him how to tape them to his sheets of paper, but he's able to make a big train all by himself now. We love all of these!

...and imagination feeding. The kids can imagine much better than they can draw at a young age. This lets them stencil in things wherever they want on the page, rather than just coloring pre printed stuff. Grand daughter Anna made an incredible "reflection" (her name for it) of a train at the top and one inverted on the bottom, and colored parts. It's up on my wall...

4 not 5 because there aren't more pages; easy and cheap for them to make it better.

These stencils are a great size for drawing on regular paper. It entertains my 3 yr. old grandson for a long time. He needed some help to hold them in place and draw around while an older child could do it alone.

My boys (4 and 6) love using these stencils for creating scenes on paper. There are six different stencils, including an engine, caboose, and coal car. The shapes are anywhere from 2-1/2 to 5" long and roughly 2" tall. Can't beat the price!

I bought these for a stocking stuffer for my "train crazy" little boy. Some people say the stencils are too small or flimsy. But I am completely happy with them and my 5 year old is completely crazy about them. I am totally satisfied with my purchase and would recommend them to anyone for their children.
