this is a very study mold, and the brains come out very easily. If you use watermelon jello and cool whip, it will be the right color. It has to sit in a bowl to set or it will tip over.

I recently received this and gave it a trial run before Halloween. I sprayed the inside with PAM before putting in my jello and had no problem whatsoever with it sliding out; all of the architecture of the brain was there perfectly. Quite realistic and I will be sure to make it extra-gory for a Halloween party; of course it will definitely taste better than it looks! I also plan on putting in a couple of eyeballs where they would actually be. I had no problems with the vendor and was able to check on delivery through my Amazon account.

I purchased this to make a jello "brain" for our Halloween dinner, thinking I would be able to use it for years to come. I was dismayed that the plastic was a very thin material - think thin plastic cup. I washed this with a sponge with no other dishes in the sink and by the time I was finished there were already stress marks on the plastic. I would compare it to squishing a plastic cup and when it pops it back out there are white stress marks on the cup. The difference is, I didn't squish the mold at all; just washed it and ended up with the same results. I decided to use it anyway and hope that everything would go as planned. I made the jello, poured it in, and then realized that the mold couldn't sit by itself. I rigged it to sit on a plate with some cans supporting the mold so it didn't tip over. 30 minutes later I checked the jello to make sure it was setting up right. It was at that point that I realized that some of the "stress marks" had turned into cracks, which allowed the jello to leak out. I lost about 1/4 of the jello before it set up enough to stop leaking out.

The jell mold came with a drink package and gummy worms, (a surprise to me). I didn't intend to use them but wouldn't have been able to if I had. The gummy worms were all melted into one solid piece of gummy. I purchased this in October and live in Montana. There is no reason on my end that this should have arrived melted.

I'm highly disappointed with this product. It is certainly not worth the $13 I paid for it and will never be able to be used again.

Works great, and makes a great brain. Do not use milk to make it opaque, it will curdle; use evaporated milk instead.

The brain jello mold was a big hit at my 22 year old daughter's zombie birthday party. We added a few gummy worms into the jello after it had slightly set to make them even more creepy. Through trial and error we found that the jello brain held its shape better when we used 2X the jello mix/liquid recommended. Initally it was a little bit hard to get out of the mold. For subsequent "brains" we sprayed the mold with a little cooking spray before putting the jello mixture in. This worked much better.

Our family tends to go a bit overboard at Halloween so we were delighted by the idea of serving a Jello brain as the final course to our (ahem) refrigerator dough snake-shaped calzones stuffed with coldcuts and cheese: a luncheon for our visiting elderly aunt. (Don't dis 'em before you try 'em, the calzones I mean.) So you can imagine our extreme disappointment that Amazon's free two-day delivery expanded by an additional two days and missed the window for the visit. Thereafter, we were disappointed with the "chintzy" quality of the plastic mould--complete with a design flaw--the mould will not lay flat on its "back" when filled with liquid. It has to be supported on a plate and is still tipsy and unstable at that. Anyone who had a brain would understand that Jello is a liquid before it gels, therefore, stability is a key asset of any desirable gelatin mould. Time to rethink this concept we fear. Would not purchase this again.

I ordered this mold to make a clay brain for a Physiology class. I used a self hardening clay and the mold held up well. I got an A on my project and would reccomend this for anyone needing a brain mold.

I used this to make a brain jello mold for my son's science class. It is a solid plastic mold, not flimsy at all. Set it in a bowl to level it out when refrigerating the jello. It worked great. I used light evaporated milk as part of the mix, with peach jello and a little green food coloring to get the right color.
