For us old-timers who still have a large library of VHS tapes, a reliable VHS player is essential. This unit fits the bill. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but it will play your old VHS tapes with excellent sound and visual quality. My old VHS player died and I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find a good replacement. This unit is a great replacement. I couldn't believe how good my old tapes looked and sounded. I had thought they were degrading; but it must have been my old player that was going south. This unit also plays DVDs with excellent sound and visual quality. If you still have a desire to record VHS tapes, it will accommodate that as well.

Easy to set up and use. Functions as expected. Would recommend as a basic VCR player/recorder. WORTH the price paid.

Funny. I thought this looked familiar, and when I received it, I found out why. It's identical to the Magnavox player it replaced!! In fact, I never even opened the new remote! I'm still using the old one!

We are thrilled with it.....don't have throw away my VCR tapes, and it is user friendly. First leary about the brand, but, turned out fine.

It does play DVD and VHS tapes
It records onto VHS tape not DVD discs
It does not let you record one channel and watch another - that
is the disappointing thing.
Otherwise it works fine, but look at the box flap for
hook up directions, it's clearer than the booklet.

Also,I had a cable with yellow and white ends I had saved from whatever device,(hope this helps-one review here was real complicated)besides the one I already had on my old VCR, red, white, and yellow, that's all I needed. I have satellite TV so the tuner is that box for me. Then I followed the box directions to hook up. My DTV box has no component ports so followed the basic connection.

The thing I was puzzled by was the private seller did not put the unit in a box-so the product was totally visible, so I'm glad no one stole it.

I was confused by reviews that said people recorded or copied their VHS tapes to discs - still not sure it does that. (if you can't record to DVD how can you copy from VHS to DVD?)Anyway I had a lot of VHS tapes I still wanted to watch so that was the main reason I bought it.

My Philips DVP3340V DVD/VCR combo starting acting up so I went to a department store and bought the only one they had. This Funai combo player has been nothing but trouble since I first hooked it up.

The DVD tray is flimsy and dvds I had no issues playing on the Philips have a terrible time on this one. They freeze, skip and crash. I'm this close to throwing it at the wall. This close.

I plan on taking my chances with the old one till my Philips replacement arrives in a few days. That's how OVER I am with this Funai piece of junk. Worst $80 I have ever spent.

Be warned.

Came quickly. Extremely well packaged. Looks BRAND NEW. Came with all cords and new remote. I just plugged in the old cords and turned it on. Works perfectly.
