Amazon.com Product Description

Upgrade to the convenience and quality of dual DVD/VHS recording without sacrificing additional shelf space. Funai's FDRV90E dual-recording combination DVD recorder and VCR is a cinch to set up and it lets you copy VHS tapes to DVD and DVDs to VHS tapes at the touch of a button (except where prohibited by copy-protection technology). Record your favorite television shows and treasured home videos to either videocassette or high-quality, long-lasting DVD-R (write-once) and DVD-RW (rewriteable) discs.

The recorder's built-in NTSC TV tuner and onscreen user interface permits up to eight timer recordings over a one-year period, with its six DVD recording speeds providing between one hour and an amazing 10 hours of content on each single-sided 4.7 GB recordable DVD. You can even select and compile the best footage to commit to disc: the recorder's handy editing features include auto playlist creation, project titling, title deletion and editing, and scene deletion.

The FDRV90E's versatile playback features include progressive-scan video outputs and support of MP3 CDs so you can easily shift your digital music enjoyment from the den to the living room. A variety of video and audio inputs--including front-panel composite- and S-video connections for fast, temporary hookups--grant connection to virtually all televisions and home theater components.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the FDRV90E's DVD player stands ready to deliver the full playback potential of your home and commercial DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

VCR Plus+ simplifies timer recording (1 year, 8 events) for both VHS and DVD recording; VCR features include 2-speed recording (SP/EP) and 3-speed playback (SP/LP/EP), 19-micron 4-head performance, 2-speed picture search/scan with EP tapes (5x, 25x normal), a realtime counter, and auto repeat abilities.

What's in the Box
DVD/VHS recorder/player, remote control, remote batteries, an RF coaxial video cable, a composite-video/stereo analog audio cable, a user's manual, and a quick-setup guide.

This review is from: Funai FDRV90E Dual-Deck DVD/VHS Player/Recorder (Electronics)
I purchased this rare, limited-edition Funai FDRV90E Dual-Deck DVD/VHS Player/Recorder from Amazon to match with the Funai 20" F20LCTE LCD television. This Funai FDRV90E is not sold at stores anywhere. Funai may be an unknown brand to many people, but Funai is actually the parent name of the Emerson, Sylvania, and Symphonic brands. I burned ten DVDs so far with no problems at all after three months. Great picture quality and comes with a 10 hour DVD recording feature. This one is very similar to the Sylvania, except that the Funai adds a better remote, better styling, VCR Plus, and Spatializer surround mode.

Funai FDRV90E Dual-Deck DVD/VHS Player/Recorder

I purchased the dual-deck about a month ago for approx. $100.00. I wasn't sure if it would be a decent product for a price this cheap. It's used on an occassional to moderate basis. So far it seems good. The picture quality is good. Has one touch recording from VCR to DVD as well as DVD to VCR. I have not used the one touch recording yet.. only recorded from TV to DVD. The quality of recording in the 4 hour or two hour modes is good.. any modes more than 4 hours loses a lot of the quality. ONE THING TO BE CAREFUL OF IS THAT THIS MACHINE ONLY RECORDS ON DVD'S THAT ARE A MAXIMUM OF 8x.. so you may have to order these off the internet since the stores all carry 16x which will not work with this deck. If you buy the DVD-RW then I believe 8x can be found anywhere. Hookups were simple and helped eliminate the issues of having both a DVD and VCR. I hope it holds up since it seems to be a pretty decent deck for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, October 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Funai FDRV90E Dual-Deck DVD/VHS Player/Recorder (Electronics)
I love the unit I purchased. I have to warn people, however, that this unit is serious about accepting only 8X blank DVDs to record on. Don't bother trying the common 16X kind that are easily available in stores--they will not work on this unit no matter what brand you buy. The 8X kind is hard to find; I have only been able to find them on the Internet. The manual fails to state this fact about needing to buy the 8X type only. I agree that the remote is hard to read and that the lettering is small, not bold enough to stand out as it should. A minor annoyance but not critical to the functioning of the machine itself.
