Cesar Manrique expresses a unique relationship between nature and man using the natural environment of volcanic rock in Lanzarote, Canary Islands. His painting, sculpture and architecture are an inspiration; he carves space out of volcanic mountains and caves instead of destroying them to build with foreign material. Manrique's aesthetically fascinating art encompasses his knowledge of history and the ongoing desruction of our earth to make a powerful statement. This artist deserves more recognition in America. Read this book!
