Editorial Reviews

Review

"The author utilizes an engaging, almost conversational style of writing that is appealing to undergraduates and those who seek familiarity with the subject but are not specialists (law students). When I used the text my students commented on the accessibility of the language and style, which increased their comprehension and interest in the subject matter… The material and commentary seems accurate and is very current - more so than most texts designed for use in advance law school courses… The use of on-line cases is terrific; more textbooks should utilize this approach… [Fundamental Perspectives on International Law] provides a good foundation for international law and is flexible enough to adopt to our forty-lesson course syllabus. There are many appealing features of this text that make it very suitable for an introductory text." --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

2.0 out of 5 stars overpriced and simplistic, May 20, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For the price of this book there should be no mistakes. There was constant grammatical errors, and there were multiple errors where the author made a statement and then contradicted it later, sometimes this would happen multiple times concerning the same statement. The book is a very simple look at International law more for the highschool level. The author left out many important subjects and treaties like Kyoto. For the money this poorly written book was a complete dissappointment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Biased Beyond Belief, December 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is not helpful in learning anything about international law. I used it for a class on the subject at the University of Wisconsin and it was really lousy. The class based everything on the book which meant hours of reading, re-reading, and re-re-reading this thing because it is so incoherent. It is also completely biased. Everything Israel does is praised. Everything goes back to WWII. Everything is Islam's fault. It kind of seemed like there was an agenda. Maybe it's not the book. Maybe it's the topic in general, but this was a huge HUGE waste of money. Don't buy this book. Don't take a class that requires this book. Just watch BBC news or read it online. It's free and it makes sense.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most amazing book on International Law, April 27, 2000
By A Customer
The author has achieved a feat of Herculean proportions by his extremely lucid and perspicacious analysis of the very difficult and inaccessible subject of International law. International law is next only to Qunatum Field Theory in its profundity and deep conceptual underpinnings. The very fact that an ignoramus like me can understand and appreciate this work of genius goes to show that everyone even remotely interested in the field should read this book.
