Gr 5-9--Fine titles aimed at older readers than the ``Beginning Sports'' series (Lerner). Each book covers the history of the sport, positions, equipment, basic and more advanced moves, rules, the merits of practice, and variations on the game. They also include addresses for national associations. King's colorful, clear, informative photographs enhance the texts, showing both boys and girls of different ages and ethnic backgrounds. Both authors offer sidebars with extra tidbits of information, such as equipment details or brief biographies of well-known U.S. players. Librarians and readers will welcome these quality offerings.
