Book Description

May 10, 1995
It will remain the single most important study on the topic of freemasonry from this century.--Forrest D. Haggard, past president of World Convention of Churches of Christ

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Given the size and influence of the Southern Baptist Convention and the fact that its internal struggles have become news items of some note in the past decade, this book has a substantial potential audience. The author is a former director of the Interfaith Witness Department of the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board who was given responsibility for writing a report on Freemasonry. Much of the book is autobiographical, recounting the production of that report. It is not always entirely clear how the internal struggle in the Southern Baptist Convention between conservatives and moderates is related to the investigation of Freemasonry, except that the two processes overlap historically and that the "parties" in each process break down along similar lines. But the account makes for interesting reading and gives significant glimpses into the workings of a church body often cited as being "in transition" from free church association to denominational institution. Steve Schroeder

4.0 out of 5 stars The author became a Freemason as a result of the study., June 9, 1998

Dr. Gary Leazer, after completing his research on Freemasonry for the SBC report, formed a very favorable opinion of the institution and became a Freemason himself. His action is a very substantive argument for the Fraternity.

This review is from: Fundamentalism & Freemasonry: Investigation of the Fraternal Order (Hardcover)
EVERY PASTOR AND MASON SHOULD HAVE THIS BOOK. IT IS BY FAR THE MOST IN DEPTH BOOK CONCERNING FREEMASONRY, THE SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND FRATERNITY. AFTER READING THIS BOOK, ONE WILL EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW FREEMASONRY COMPLIMENTS MAN'S BELIEF IN GOD. HOW FREEMASONRY IS A FRATERNITY AND NOT A RELIGION.
