From Library Journal
This collection of essays offers a broad spectrum of viewpoints on American Protestant fundamentalism. While none of the contributors is fundamentalist, some understand the movement in more sympathetic terms than others. Thus, one essay presents an almost hostile psychological study of fundamentalism, while another attempts to show why fundamentalists are a necessary corrective to the American political scene. Although most contributors focus on fundamentalism within Protestantism, an effort is also made to address the phenomenon as it is found in Islam, Judaism, and Catholicism. Recommended for academic and larger public libraries.
