5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book on digital logic and microproprocessors, August 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fundamentals of Digital Logic and Microcomputer Design, Revised Edition (Hardcover)
This book provides an excellent introduction to digital logic, computer architecture, and microprocessor-based system design. The book covers both combinatioanal and sequential design in a very simplified manner. Coverage of important topics on computer architecture including control unit,ALU, cache and virtual memories is very interesting. I also enjoyed the hardware and software aspects of both Intel and Motorola state-of-the-art microprocessor-based system design very much. Inclusion of practical examples such as microprocessor-based voltmeter design is worth mentioning. Emphasis on basic concepts is outstanding! I like all these topics in a single book. The book makes the difficult topics on all aspects of computer very simple and easy to understand. Go for it! You will not regret.

ONE OF THE BEST BOOK OF THE DECADE

I highly recommended this book to anyone that is interested or would like to learn about digital logic and microcomputer design. This book features high-interest materials, exceptionally clear explanations, and numerous practice activities. The best point of this book is the detailed references to Motorola and Intel microprocessors where it is very helpful in today's technology. As a beginner in digital logic and microcomputer design, I find this book to be very helpful to adapt the subject quickly and to pick up the skills in advance. In addition, this book cover the latest technology, so I am always up to date in the computer and digital field.

This review is from: Fundamentals of Digital Logic and Microcomputer Design, Revised Edition (Hardcover)
A good book for beginner students and practicing engineers alike. This book will take you from the most basic in digital logic to how to build a Intel or Motorola based computer. No wonder it is used as a text at Standford University and UC Berkley

4.0 out of 5 stars An Instructor's notes in the palm of your hands, November 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Fundamentals of Digital Logic and Microcomputer Design, Revised Edition (Hardcover)
As a former student of the author I can say this is a very good buy. One is getting the equivalent of 3-4 quarter class notes in one book. The book has is very easy to read and is a must for any beginner or person learning how to design a microcontroller. many examples on how to program the motorola 68000 series and intel x86. Can learn the basic assembly language needed to get started in microprocessor systems as well. I believe the book could have gotten into the Quine-McCluskey Method in more detail but can find that in a supplemental book such as the one written by Charles Roth, Jr. Also would like to see the book expanded to cover One-hot encoding.

I bought this book and have used it EXTENSIVELY, it is great, the concepts of digital and microprocessor design are explained very very clearly. There are alot of digital and microprocessor books in the market, but I say this book "Fundamentals of digital logic and microprocessor design" tops them all, it covers basic digital information all the way to Intel and Motorolla processors and much more. I think this book will be my secret weapon against those nasty tests that my digital teachers give :-) ,
