Very comprehensive practical drawing course, October 7, 2006
This review is from: The Fundamentals of Drawing Still Life
As an Art teacher I find this book quite useful because it gives me ideas on subjects to tackle for my lessons. It starts with simple drawing exercises which are important for the begineer and help him achieve eye-hand drawing cooradination. These are: lines into shapes, three dimensions, ellipses, using tone etc
The illustrations used thoughout the book are very good and inspired me a lot.
Includes chapters on: drawing different types of texture like glass, clothes, food, metal, paper etc.
Ohter chapters are: Themes and composition of different and original still lifes;Varying techniques and materials; playing with still life; Unusual arrangements and, finally, Bringing it all together.
My only complaint is that in my copy I found several blank pages when there should have been print. These are pg 81, 84,85,88,89,92,93,96. I'm curious to know whether other buyers have found the same thing or whether just my copy had this defect.
This book in all has 206 pages (not 352 as stated here and in other sites) Apart from the blank pages I am quite satisfied with this product which I find quite useful for a beginner artist or an art teacher like me.
