5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for an introduction or Power Electronics
I found that this book is a very good primer for students at the undergrad level. The examples are fundamental as the title implies, but they are useful and the MATLAB examples provide a good intro to learning simple coding. Many times the choice of tool is not as important as the fundamentals learned. MATLAB was a good choice, and provides the student with a chance to...

2.0 out of 5 stars For beginners, Novice in power electronics
Good book for extremely novice Tecnologist or Technician who wants to learn Matlab using very basic fundamentals of Power electronics.
Very basic formulas of power electronics used. However, numerical values can be calculated using a simple scientific calculator, I simply donot understand why the author wants to use simple matlab for power electronics. Book appears...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for an introduction or Power Electronics, August 22, 2007
This review is from: Fundamentals Of Power Electronics With Matlab (Hardcover)
I found that this book is a very good primer for students at the undergrad level. The examples are fundamental as the title implies, but they are useful and the MATLAB examples provide a good intro to learning simple coding. Many times the choice of tool is not as important as the fundamentals learned. MATLAB was a good choice, and provides the student with a chance to learn both how to analyze as well as understand how the ckts work and behave. Having the ability to quickly and easily modify the ckts outside of the examples, provides a foundation from which a student can easily change the env to extend their learning beyond each example.

I found this book to be one of the better intro to power electronics that I have read in the last 10 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fundamentals Of Power Electronics With Matlab, December 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fundamentals Of Power Electronics With Matlab (Hardcover)
I regard this book as very useful to me as a Power Electronics teacher, mainly due to MatLab exercises. This is the only book I have ever read that includes Distortion Power Factor concepts, which is becoming very important nowadays.

Real on-job power electronics calculations are done in MathCad or Pspice analysis tools. Matlab is rarely used.
Experienced professionals and researchers will find it useless.
Power electronics toolbox present within matlab is not used.
