This is not a good book if you are a student just beginning to learn English. For heaven's sake, don't buy this as a textbook unless the student for whom it is intended is very academic! However, it is an excellent resource for teachers, especially native English speakers. We don't know our own grammar from a hole in the ground.
I used the edition of this with the blue cover. It has the most wonderful diagrams I've ever seen showing how English verb tenses work. I can't find a picture of a blue one or I'd buy it again.

Having taught English asa Second Language in Asia and the States as well as elementary school English and literacy, Azar is the best. Her examples are clear and interesting. The excercises are real to life. Her charts are invaluable to make things systematic and clear for all levels of students.

I am an esl teacher of intermediate level adult students and I have been using this book in my class for about a year. I love the book, and even better, so do my students! The explanations are clear, and the exercises are superb. We do a combination of oral,aural, and written exercises. It's a great book to use in the classroom, and I have a number of students who have bought it to use for study at home. It's informative,thorough, and FUN!

This and the other books in the Azar English Grammar series are great tools for teaching adult second language learners. It's really a system they can grow with. It makes my job as an ESL teacher a breeze.

I got what I was looking for in very good shape and on time as promised. It was my very first time at Amazon. Now, I would buy anything through it.

My ESL students run the gamut, from pre-teens to mid-career professionals. This one-of-a-kind book is a must for any serious instructor. All explanations are crystal-clear and the illustrations are excellent. Each point is reinforced with appropriate exercises and the order of presentation is both logical and useful. Five stars!

Personally I wasn't expecting to be in a really great condition but I was happy to realize I was wrong. Really a bargain!

Before purchasing this one I have looked at several others, but this is the one. I speak 5 languages (I am Hungarian, but I am fluent in English, Italian, Spanish, Russian and I know a little French), and I guaranty you that if you know this book, you know everything you need to about English Grammar. Also the book is very well organized and straight forward. I really recommend it.

I am a teacher of english in ukraine at a business institute. This book has helped me very much in teaching students. It is an excellent reference guide.
