Book Description

Safety Is Fundamentals! The Second Edition features a laser-like focus on fire fighter injury prevention, including a dedicated chapter on safety. Reducing fire fighter injuries and deaths requires the dedicated efforts of every fire fighter, of every fire department, and of the entire fire community working together. It is with this goal in mind that we have integrated the 16 Fire Fighter Life Safety Initiatives developed by the National Fallen Fire Fighter Foundation into Chapter 2, Fire Fighter Safety. In most of the chapters, actual National Fire Fighter Near-Miss Reporting System cases are discussed to drive home important points about safety and the lessons learned from those real-life incidents. It is our profound hope that this textbook will contribute to the goal of reducing line-of-duty deaths by 25 percent in the next 5 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fundamentals of Fire Fighter Skills, March 19, 2009

This review is from: Fundamentals Of Fire Fighter Skills (Paperback)
As one of the Contributors & Editors of this Fire Training manual, I find that this manual is well written by Fire Officers, like myself.

This Fire Fighting manual is being used in Fire departments across the United States and in Canada.

This Fire Fighting manual is the best on the market, with all of the updated Fire Codes implemented within it.

The Jones & Bartlett Publishing company has used this Fire Fighting manual as a basis of more of their products; and also their On-Line Training program.

I teach the On-Line Training program also, and it is well received by new Fire Fighter rookies as well as, seasoned/career Fire Fighters.

A must have for every member of your Fire Department!

2.0 out of 5 stars poorly written, March 17, 2011
This review is from: Fundamentals Of Fire Fighter Skills (Paperback)
I dont know what other texts are out there but this would be sad if it was truly the best out there. Im a fire fighting student and im only half way through but thus far it has way to many poorly worded sentences, typos, lack of definitions of terms people new to the fire service dont know as well as a lack of pictures to help explain what and how tools and skills look like and are used, as well as way to many confusing statements regarding how to perform those actions, not to mention of the pictures that are provided to many contradict the instructions they are making. a good start with better editing is needed. I am not satisfied that this is the best book that could be produced, ive had to use the internet constantly as well as purchase another textbook to try and supplement it, they both cover the same info and yet you need a 2nd to fill in the holes left by this book. far from pleased, and with it alone, far from passing the state exams im sure.
