Book Description

This second edition continues with the formula adopted in the first: student accessibility, readability, an effective problem-solving programme, and flexibility. The authors understand that most students have their sights set beyond the chemistry laboratory. Thus, they have put chemistry in the context of applications and everyday life - making the book and course student accessible. With the intent of gaining student confidence, the writing style is informal and readable for the student with no scientific background. The problem-solving programme maintains a range of problems and worked examples, including questions that test the student's understanding of concepts and develop their analytical thinking skills. The authors have made the text as flexible as possible. This is especially evident in the biological chemistry chapters, where structure and function are integrated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Textbook, April 18, 2006
By
This is an excellent textbook for a two semester course in General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry for Health Professions. It does a very good job of explaining the concepts of General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry. It also has excellent applications on disease processes and pathophysiology. The organization of each chapter is a plus. I highly recommend this textbook. It is number one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book on Physiological Chemistry, March 4, 2006
This book is exactly as described by the publisher. A very readable overview of general and organic chemistry. A comprehensive study of the organic molecules and chemical processes specific to the human body.

I liked this book so much that I'm ordering a hardcover copy to replace my original paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Written, January 4, 2007
The book was used for 90% of my class. It well written for the student with little exposure to chemistry. The pictures and diagrams could have better depicted the subject matter. The price was $40 less than what my college bookstore charges. Great value.
