poor photos,
By Craig "student who saves" (connecticut) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fundamentals of Remote Sensing and Airphoto Interpretation (5th Edition) (Paperback)
The book itself is good but when compared to the hardcover edition the poor quality of the photos is evident. Since I do not need to use these photos for my class it is not a major issue, but if you will be working directly from the book you might want to consider purchasing the hardcover.

Great book....lousy spine,

This review is from: Fundamentals of Remote Sensing and Airphoto Interpretation (5th Edition) (Paperback)
The content of this book is fantastic, though perhaps a little dated now. A word of warning, though: the book will begin to disintegrate after opening it up about 50 times. Whatever glue was used to seal the spine was low-grade. Once the contiguous, 10-page chunks of the book begin detaching themselves from the center, it's a big mess.

This was a required book for a college class!,

This book has all the detailed information that you would expect a college school book to have. But nothing more! It's completely black and white, NO COLOR PAGES! This is 2006 lets get with the program here folks. Also, it was copyrighted in 1992, so to truly be current it needs an update badly. But once again it does have all the basic information that you would need too learn about remote sensing.

this is a great book with lots of information, however like so many textbooks its a bit difficult to get out what you want, information is organized alright but not amazingly well. I have used other a. photo books that do a better job.
all in all its worth it. I should mention I did not buy this for a class, obviously if you need it for one then this review is irrelevant. but its worth having on hand as a general reference.

I bought this book and it took almost 3 weeks to receive even after I paid expedited fee. It should of arrived within a week as everything sent expedited comes up in Alaska by air. The book was for a class I'm taking at UAA.

Horrible quality & poorly written,
By Liz "Lizard" (NC, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fundamentals of Remote Sensing and Airphoto Interpretation (5th Edition) (Paperback)
This was a required book for my college class. The quality of the book is horrible - pages come out randomly, and the print quality is terrible - it looks like a poorly copied B&W version of a color book. The captions in the photos talk about the colors in the photo, but guess what? There is NO COLOR! Unbelievable that a book in remote sensing, which relies on color coding for interpretation, would be printed in b&w! And unbelievable based on the price.
The organization and writing in the book is very hard to follow - extremely technical with very little practical explanation. (Of course, it might be easier to follow if you could actually see the detail in the photos!) Combine that with a professor that hates to explain, and you have a very difficult remote sensing class!

This book was in much better shape than I had expected. New like condition with a very small amount of high lighting.

Land Use Planning and Analysis at it's best!,

The planet EARTH houses well over 600billion people... and in the land on which they are housed under cloak of gases we call ATMOSPHERE are natural potentials for disaster. The same elements that form disaster are often the elements that provide us our sustenance. REMOTE SENSING and AERIAL INTERPRETATION allows us to plan HOW we use these landforms and elements WISELY.The book provided by Avery and Berlin is a must have for any land developer or engineer who intends to maintain equilibrium with nature in his design. The book provides first hand knowledge of basic instruments and technology used in locating sources of precious commodities and for streamlining expense of damage/progress survey used in Agricultural and Energy careers. Acquisistion of the skill offered by this text enables VISION beyond the facade. It was one of many required texts in my own field of study. |
