Book Description

January 15, 1983 044441830X 978-0444418302
"This book is fast becoming the standard text in its field", wrote a reviewer in the Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology soon after the first appearance of Dake's book. This prediction quickly came true: it has become the standard text and has been reprinted many times. The author's
aim - to provide students and teachers with a coherent account of the basic physics of reservoir engineering - has been most successfully achieved. No prior knowledge of reservoir engineering is necessary. The material is dealt with in a concise, unified and applied manner, and only the simplest and most straightforward mathematical techniques are used. This low-priced paperback edition will continue to be an invaluable teaching aid for years to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book with minor binding defect, September 8, 2005
This review is from: Fundamentals of Reservoir Engineering (Developments in Petroleum Science) (Paperback)
This is a great classic reference in the area of Reservoir Engineering that can be recommended to anyone working in the area.

I would mention, though, that this manufacturing run seems to have had a binding problem. The first 16 page sheets are out of order (e.g. page 3 occurs after page 6). I alerted Amazon and returned one book, but the second copy they sent is the same...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good fundamental reservoir book, June 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fundamentals of Reservoir Engineering (Developments in Petroleum Science) (Paperback)
I am a mechanical engineer who has no background with geophysics or reservoir engineering, but I have to say that if you have some knowledge on thermodynamics , chemistry and some calculus, this book will really walk you through the fundamentals of Reservoir engineering.
It is really thorough and it explains things in a really simple way.
Good book for someone who wants to know about this field, and wants to teach herself or himself about it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deep reminder on technical issues in petroleum., April 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fundamentals of Reservoir Engineering (Developments in Petroleum Science) (Paperback)
This book served as a very deep and efficient reminder on issues I had studied in field of upstream in l'ENSPM at Petroleum Economics and Management course. Might be looking too technical, but no important point is missed.

Really useful and helpful for non-technical people with engineering background in upstream petroleum economics.
