This is a collection of writings from several different writers. What makes is so hard is that it does not flow, there really is not style to the book. I used this in a class for my Masters and it was really not a good book. We got the professor to change books after our class because it was so bad. Don't waste your money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a textbook, November 12, 2009

I'm a researcher in risk management and I borrowed this book from my library because I found a research article referencing it.

On the whole I have to agree with the reviewer before me who gave this book a thumbs down. It is NOT a textbook. It is a collection of individual articles, and while the articles themselves do a good job in portraying risk analysis and risk management from a variety of settings and across industries, it doesn't teach you much about risk management itself.

In essence it's a book by academics for academics, not for the professional seeking advice on how to deal with risks and most certainly not for the student seeking to learn about risk.

It's a not a book you really need to have in your bookshelf. But it's a good book nonetheless.
