Fun game with just a few quirks...,

This is a game a lot like the board game Scattergories. But instead of rolling a letter and thinking of a bunch of answers to different categories that all start with that letter, you are given a category (like Brands of Beer) and you must quickly shout out brands of beers that start with all 26 letters (ok not exactly, "x" and "y" are combined... so 25 letters. The first person or team to use all 25 wins! The "trick" is that you only get 30 seconds, and then its the other person/teams turn... your "used" letters are stored from round to round, so if you say "Antelope" for "Wild Mammals" in round one, you don't need another "A" answer for round two! Also thrown into the mix are "Steals" where you attempt to "light back up" your opponents letters so they have to use them AGAIN and "free" rounds where you can just turn off a particularly troublesome letter that you just can't seem to find an answer for (Like U, or Q or Z!!!)
There were just a few quirks to the game, none of which are very worrisome. One is the "random" choice of "STEAL" on the very first turn of the game. Sometimes this happens and you just have to restart the game, because no on has taken a turn yet and thus there is NOTHING to steal! Also, you'll want to quickly develop some "house rules"... "creative" people can try and give some "creative" answers, and it will be up to the group whether or not to accept them. For example, under the "Romantic Gifts" category... can a hug be considered a romantic gift? A necktie? The game moves along swiftly, and since the category cards fit nicely inside a compartment on the back of the unit, this is an ideal travel game.

This is my second purchase of the same game. In both cases, the keys only worked for a short period of time. Very poor quality. I would not recommend it.

I purchased this game after visiting my sister and playing the original "board" version with her friends. We tried to play this electronic version and twice it started over in the middle of the game. I am not sure whether it is intended to be passed around or just kept in one spot on the table. It is frustrating when you are in the middle of playing the game and it starts over. I would love to have the one with the board and the red disks.

My husband and I love games, and gave this a try after finding it at Target. When we wanted to order it for our nieces ages 14 & 11, we couldn't find it in the store and ordered it through Amazon. It arrived on time and they loved playing this game. It's challenging yet very enjoyable!

Got it as a gift for my brother (37 yrs old). We all had a great time from seniors to my 6 year old son!!! Some of the catagories had to be changed for the kids (but there's a jr. version - they are getting for the holidays).

My husband and I were at a party of adults when we first played this game. I went home and within 24 hours, I ordered it online for my family. We have 4 teenagers and my mother is staying with us - we invited our neighbors over and all of us had a hilarious time! This game is fun for all three of our generations... different topics hit different abilities so it was very "fair" throughout the game. Sometimes you get an easy card and sometimes you're stumped! I would definitely recommend A to Z.

Really fun, easy game to start off a party or board-game night. Simple directions and plenty of opportunity for competition, debate, and laughs.

I've played the old, non-electronic, version of A To Z many times. It had individual cards that players or teams would use similar to bingo cards. It's a great game that can be used by people with all different skill levels and ages. We regularly play it for family game nights and our teenagers really love it. I wanted to get one for my elderly mother to use with her group of friends and was frustrated to find out that it is only available now in this electronic format. We played it recently, and although the content of the game is the same (and still a lot of fun), turning it into an electronic format where all the 'cards' are now stored into memory adds a layer of complication to it that's not necessary. Occasionally the unit would malfunction and we'd have to switch the machine off and basically reboot it. Once when we were near the end of the game, the unit slipped out of one player's hands and fell about two inches to the table. That was enough to wipe the memory out and we had to turn it off and start over. It also was harder for my mother to figure out how to use than the old fashioned version would have been (when you take your turn you're trying to push the red buttons; when you steal, you're trying to push the green buttons - that's a little harder to remember when the timer is ticking than simply taking on or off a token on a card). So I guess my question to the manufacturer would be, why mess with a good thing? Adding bells and whistles doesn't always make for a better product.
