Phase 10 Twist is a LOT of fun and is my favorite variation of the game (I've tried them all). I like it because unlike the regular Phase 10 card game, everyone gets to advance even if they don't phase out on their hand (if you don't phase you move one space, if you do phase you move two spaces, and if you go out you move three spaces). So the longest you get stuck on a phase (besides the 10th one) is two turns. The twist is really fun too - it mixes up the game and keeps it interesting with ten new phases. If you don't make your phase when you're trying to "twist" you have to move back one space, but if you DO, you move forward double spaces. Sometimes regular Phase 10 can take a really long time (especially with a lot of people), but Phase 10 Twist keeps the game moving. I highly recommend it.

This is a great Twist on the original phase 10 game! It adds a whole other element to this game, and takes some of the frustrations away that were present in the original game.

In the original game, there was only one discard pile. This meant that if the exact card you needed wasn't layed down by the person before you, you didn't have many options but to pick up from the pile. In this version, there are three discard piles, which really helps to speed up the games, and prevents a lot of frustration in the later phases.

Scoring was also taken out of this game altogether. Now it is just the first person to passs the tenth phase. There are tiebreakers, but interestingly enough, according to the rules, there is still the possibility that this game could end in a tie.

One more thing I liked about this Twist version is the fact that "going out" has more reward than in the regular phase 10 game. Now, instead of just getting a score of zero, which would only help you in a tie, you get to move ahead an extra space if you lay down all of your cards. This adds all new risks and rewards.

All in all, a great game! If you like phase 10, you will love this version!

I've played the original Phase 10, but after a few plays of the Twist version, I can safely say it's better than the original. For those not familiar with Phase 10, it's essentially rummy with a predetermined objective, for example 4 of a kind or a run of 7 cards. Each phase's objective becomes harder as you work your way from phase 1 to phase 10.

Phase 10 Twist adds several twists to the original. First, there's a board with a phase track, including Twist spots in between some phases. At the end of each round, players move forward 1, 2, or 3 spaces depending on how well they did that round. The scoring system keeps players in the game and reduces the chance of a blowout win. If a player ends up on a Twist spot, they have the option of choosing a special Twist phase, which are of varying difficulty but are generally more difficult than the normal phases. Of course, the reward is bigger for accepting such a challenge - players move forward double the normal amount of spaces. Basically, the Twist spots offer a high-risk, high-reward option.

The final twist is a tray in the center of the board that holds 3 discard piles. This takes away some of the "luck of the draw" speeds up the game. It also makes discard decisions more strategic as you have to decide which pile to discard to. Overall, the twists offered in this version of Phase 10 add some decisions and risk, reduce the luck of the draw, and speed up the game. All of these make the original rummy spinoff much more enjoyable.

Our family loves card games, and Phase 10 has long been a favorite. But Phase 10 Twist has become the game we reach for again and again, partially due to the length of the regular card game (not to say this one is short... just shorter). It is not just an abbreviated version of the regular Phase 10 game, but has an extra "twist" or two to keep you on your toes... and even if you get behind, there is an opportunity to come back quickly, so no one gets too discouraged. The kids like to play it with their friends over the "regular" version, as well, since no one has to keep score/points. If you like card games, and the regular Phase 10, you'll probably want to add this one to your game cabinet. We are happy we did!

This game is a lot of fun! It can be played with 2 players and each have a blast, or with larger numbers. The game goes by faster in larger groups (since it is easier to get rid of your cards), but fun no mater how many are playing. It is not complicated and easy to keep a conversation going as the game rolls, but still gives you enough of a challenge to stay interested in the game. My husband and I have played it two nights in a row now, first by ourselves to test it out, and just now with our neighbors. I would highly recommend this game, most fun my husband and I have had with board games yet!

If you like Phase 10 - then you will like this game. For those that like Phase 10 and it just takes too long because too many people are playing - then you will like this game.
This game takes the fun of Phase 10 and adds a Twist to the rules. You move around a board with the phases. You may not even have to do all 10 phases - or you may do phases you have never seen before.
There are three discard piles to choose from - very helpful when you try to complete a phase.
It is a fun game that the whole family enjoys.
