A step above other pool games!,

This review is from: Bubba The Bottom Feeder (Toy)
I purchased Bubba the Bottom Feeder game after reading the instructions on the back of the box. I grew up playing all kinds of cheap pool games in my grandma's pool, and most of them are some type of ring toss game, or have you dive for certain items that are scattered across the bottom while your siblings desperately try to stop you from getting that last one.
Bubba the Bottom Feeder was a bit different- it's set up like a -reverse- dive game. "Bubba" is a big fish with big green weighted lips who sinks to the bottom of the pool. (His lips are also hinged, making a nice carrying case for the other parts of the game!) His body is made of a mesh net, probably for safety reasons- and so everything can dry quickly when the game is over. The game also comes with several adorable little round plastic fish, each one weighted slightly different and about the size of a ping pong ball. Most float on the surface, while some sink slightly below. The object is then to gather these little fish, one at a time, and "feed" them to Bubba, resting on the bottom. Each fish he is fed causes him to get a little lighter-- until finally he eats "too much" and floats to the surface, and the game can start again. The person to feed him the fish that makes him float- wins. (I think.) It's by no means hours of fun, but it is a nice spin on dive games, and the concept of feeding a big fish was well thought out (it would be much less fun putting ping pong balls in an underwater net, for example) The construction is pretty good for an inexpensive pool game as well- I only worry about Bubba's hinged lips breaking where the plastic gets fairly thin. Overall though this is a great little summer pool toy for the price, has a nice sense of humor (maybe teaches kids not to overfeed pet fish?) and is quite fun for kids.

Placed all floating fish in the net fish and it never floated. Just stays on the bottom. Needs improvement.

My kids LOVED this swim toy and it really was helpful in practicing swimming under water. The ONLY issue was my 8 year old carried Bubba back from the neighborhood pool by his tail while containing the smaller 8 fish inside. Later that night when going to put the swim toys away we realized the mouth had come open and all of the fish had fallen out!!! Unfortunatly a search turned up none of the fish. I just wanted to hopefully save others from making our mistake.

This is an excellent toy for the price. It is a different type of game for the pool and it helps kids learn to go underwater without fear. It will not supply "hours of fun", but it is something that you can come back to for a quick game at any time. Our granddaughter is 6 and ejoys playing Bubba. Sometime she wins sometimes not, a good lesson for this age.
