I'll confess that the first few times my family played this, it was reasonably fun. However, using a custom-size balloon as a key component of the game is asinine. Balloons pop. That's just what they do. And having only one spare with NO way of getting another is simply unacceptable.

After playing the game a few times, the first "gut" balloon popped. So, we installed the replacement balloon. As one might expect, it popped soon afterward.

We tried using different "off-the-shelf" balloons, but none of them fit properly. As such, the game was simply unplayable.

I reached out to the manufacturer months ago, and have yet to hear back.

Bottom line: The brief period of fun that we had playing this game can in no way make up for the disappointment my son felt when it became unplayable so soon after getting it.

If you can find this game for $5 or so, it might be worth it. But at $25? Forget it. Complete waste of money.

The concept of the game seems pretty simple but game play is VERY fun! You try to eliminate your hand of cards by playing a card and pumping Gus's head on the numbered "food", each pump inflating his stomach. The ingeious contraption inside allows his stomach to expand at a seemingly random count before he "explodes" a fart, causing the current player to draw 2 more cards. Sometimes he blows on 8 pumps, sometimes he makes it all the way to 20! I played this game with my neice and with my adult friends and we all found ourselves trying to gently press down on Gus's head so as not to make him fart, or quickly filling his stomach on our turn, setting up the next player for a sure-fire explosion! Lots of fun for kids and adults.

My kids thought this toy was awesome, until both balloons popped in the first ten minutes. Now we can't play with it at all. They do not sell replacement balloons for this game and we haven't heard good things about trying to use regular balloons. Essentially we would keep pushing his head, waiting for him to "fart", but he never did. The balloon just kept getting bigger until it blew. Between the cost of the game and the shipping this was about $50 thrown right in the trash....

The box was ruined during delivery, which is a first for an Amazon product in my experience. My sons liked playing this game, but the balloons inside Gus didn't last long at all - two days after purchase we were left balloon-less. Our game came with two. I tried replacing with regular balloons, but it doesn't work like it's supposed to once I changed out the balloon.

We were all ready to play the game & have a few laughs, my kids thought the concept was hilarious. HUGE letdown when the balloon failed to inflate, even using the spare. Going back for a refund..

My son received this for his 6th birthday. He was hysterical playing it and we all had a fun time - for about 3 hours worth of play and the balloon popped. Only 2 are provided and we thought perhaps this one was defective and did not want to risk only having one left as then if that broke the game would be good for nothing so Targe was nice and exchanged it. We go to play and within the first hour of play same thing. The balloon popped. I then started to believe the game is really a piece of junk. So sad though as my son LOVED it and was so upset when I said we were just returning it and I called the company and asked about replacement balloons. You cant even get them so I gather they expect you to just keep buying a new game? They said I must have had a defective set of games (which made no sense as I had to wait to get the second one as they had no more left so they came from separate shipments.) All in all therefore disappointed as really upset my son that the game did not even last one day.

OK, there are upsides and downsides to this game no lie. The upside is that the game itself is it’s a lot of fun. The downside is like many customers have said in negative reviews is that the balloons break and the manufacturer does not sell replacements. Personally if they did sell replacements I wouldn’t waste my money on their balloons cause they are so cheap and low quality. You can use other balloons in Gassy Gus. I own another game called Boom Boom Balloon, which you have to buy special balloons for, and for those of you who don’t know the game Boom Boom Balloon check it out on YOUTUBE. that’s a great game if you don’t have a heart condition. Any how the balloons in that game are very heavy duty and no lie they are just a little big for Gus but they work good cause they are heavy duty and hard to break. So I installed one of those in Gus and I have had no problem with Gassy Gus since I installed it. But I would imagine any party balloons would work on Gassy Gus. You just need to keep the adapter that the original balloon is connected to and you will need a new zip tie to secure the new balloon. I wouldn’t buy the cheapest balloons you can find cause you’ll be spending more time changing them out more than you are playing the game. Gassy Gus the game itself is a lot of fun and very entertaining. Kids will get a big kick out of it as well as adults. I would definitely recommend this game despite the problem with the balloons, it’s fixable if you’re just a little bit handy and you’ll have loads of fun and the kids will be laughing their heads off every time Gus passes gas lol. That alone will pay for the game itself.
