I'll confess that the first few times my family played this, it was reasonably fun. However, using a custom-size balloon as a key component of the game is asinine. Balloons pop. That's just what they do. And having only one spare with NO way of getting another is simply unacceptable.

After playing the game a few times, the first "gut" balloon popped. So, we installed the replacement balloon. As one might expect, it popped soon afterward.

We tried using different "off-the-shelf" balloons, but none of them fit properly. As such, the game was simply unplayable.

I reached out to the manufacturer months ago, and have yet to hear back.

Bottom line: The brief period of fun that we had playing this game can in no way make up for the disappointment my son felt when it became unplayable so soon after getting it.

If you can find this game for $5 or so, it might be worth it. But at $25? Forget it. Complete waste of money.

The concept of the game seems pretty simple but game play is VERY fun! You try to eliminate your hand of cards by playing a card and pumping Gus's head on the numbered "food", each pump inflating his stomach. The ingeious contraption inside allows his stomach to expand at a seemingly random count before he "explodes" a fart, causing the current player to draw 2 more cards. Sometimes he blows on 8 pumps, sometimes he makes it all the way to 20! I played this game with my neice and with my adult friends and we all found ourselves trying to gently press down on Gus's head so as not to make him fart, or quickly filling his stomach on our turn, setting up the next player for a sure-fire explosion! Lots of fun for kids and adults.

We were all ready to play the game & have a few laughs, my kids thought the concept was hilarious. HUGE letdown when the balloon failed to inflate, even using the spare. Going back for a refund..

Didn't work, balloons wouldn't stay on and the latch at the bottom was broken. 6 yr. old was very dissappointed!

Gassy Gus is a fun sounding concept but unfortunately the game turned out to be a big disapointment.

When you pump the head a small balloon expands inside of Gus' "stomach". The air (gas) is released when one of the game players overpumps him. The air is released randomly and a player does not know when Mr. Gus will "let go".

My kids loved the idea. BUT - Gus fails to make a sound (the kids expected a "fart") when the balloon releases. You have to keep a finger on the balloon to feel when it deflates.

This is a big let down. If the game actually made a loud noise (or any noise for that matter) the game would be fun. It doesn't, so it isn't.

Fun game = good game. My children and their buddies rated this one as a yawner - no fun.

Too bad.

My son received this for his 6th birthday. He was hysterical playing it and we all had a fun time - for about 3 hours worth of play and the balloon popped. Only 2 are provided and we thought perhaps this one was defective and did not want to risk only having one left as then if that broke the game would be good for nothing so Targe was nice and exchanged it. We go to play and within the first hour of play same thing. The balloon popped. I then started to believe the game is really a piece of junk. So sad though as my son LOVED it and was so upset when I said we were just returning it and I called the company and asked about replacement balloons. You cant even get them so I gather they expect you to just keep buying a new game? They said I must have had a defective set of games (which made no sense as I had to wait to get the second one as they had no more left so they came from separate shipments.) All in all therefore disappointed as really upset my son that the game did not even last one day.

I purchased this for my 6 year old son. He was so excited to play with it but the balloon did not inflate as it should and the "gas" did not come out properly. The spare was placed and it still does not work. It now resides in the landfill.

I purchased this game after seeing it in Toys R Us and mistaking it for a clearance item. No where on the box does it explain how it works, but it looked like a fun, quick game to enjoy with my sister who's 7. I would recommend this game for any family with little girls or boys. Since my sister's at the age where her peers think body noises are funny because parents always looked so appalled when it happens, it was a big hit!

--How it Works--
Gassy Gus comes put together and laying back in the reclining position in his chair. Under his shirt is a small balloon. One you could buy at any store, and looks water balloon sized. The game comes with an extra balloon in case something happens to the one already attached. The balloon is attached to an "L" shaped tube that's connected to his head pump. There's a rim around where the balloon goes to hold the balloon in place and keep it from rolling off during game play. Inside the TV tray in front of Gus is where the playing cards, soda bottles and extra balloon are kept. Essentially you can leave everything in his TV tray and throw the game box away.

--Setup--
Gassy Gus comes put together, all you have to do is snap him into a sitting position. When the game's over you recline Gus, by pushing a tab on the bottom of the chair over and snapping him to a reclining position, something my sister can't do and even i struggled with, the easiest thing to do for me was to just push the back of the chair down and let the tab pop out on it's own. I wouldn't' recommend you do that though, just in case you break the tab off. I think using a pen would help.

--Playing--
Each player starts with 2 soda bottle cards and 5 playing cards.
