In Funerales de la Mama Grande, a series of seemingly independent short stories tell us about a town, which reflects the same aura and magic realism that we see in "100 Years of Solitude". Despite the separate stories, the lives of all their characters are interconnected under the same burning sun and unbearable heat of this small foresaken town. Mama Grande is the character that will ultimately represent the whole and bring this insignificant town to the heart of the country and of the world. A must for all lovers of Garcia Marquez's work.

If you like Gabriel Garcia Marquez... you will love this collection of stories. They are a must read for lovers of magical realism. These stories are the type you can smell and taste. This is the original stuff before everyone started doing it (Isabel Allende for example) and nobody has done it better or will do it better. Nobel Price winner GGM is the most important writer alive and arguably the most important writer of the 20th century...

OurSpanish conversation group was looking for a book to read and discuss. We found the images too obscure. It was very difficult to use context to obtain new vocabulary.

This book is definitely geared to native Spanish speakers with a literary bent!
