Editorial Reviews

Jerome ""Bigfoot"" Brailey was a member of the Parliament Funkadelic collective and played on their classic mid 70s releases until he split the mothership to form Mutiny. Funk Road is an amazing, eclectic album of funk, soul, electro, rap, jazz and more! The genre jumping Bigfoot has also done session work with Keith Richards, Snoop Dogg, Pharoah Sanders, Jah Wobble, James Blood Ulmer, Bill Laswell and more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight Up,Kicking Mutiny On The Move!! October 2, 2013
Format:Audio CD
When Mutiny's fourth release Aftershock 2005 came to my attention,it was nearly a decade after it's original release. And I hadn't previously been aware of it's existence. My discovery of this album one thing in common with my discovery of that earlier one: the use of the internet. While searching through P-Funk releases here on Amazon, this new Mutiny album suddenly came up in my recommendations. Somehow or other I assumed that Mutiny were over after the 90's funk revival. What I forgot was that,in fact that funk revival hasn't really gone away at all. Its just slipped in and out of the underground as different pop/rap/hip-hop hybrids have become locked into the mainstream of public consciousness. Even George Clinton himself, once fairly prolific even in rough times, was finding himself relying more on live performances rather than recording. Of course there was also the variable of time and age involved too,as both factors came to the fore with many of P-Funk classic musicians passing away. It seemed like time and the river was gradually taking funk music's pioneer musicians away. Well not if Jermone Brailey has anything to say about it that is. He is still middle aged, alive and active musically and was set up with the help of old band mates Mike Hampton,Bernie Worrell,Gary Shider and Cordell Boogie Mosson to make yet another comeback for Mutiny.

It begins with the instrumental "Thought Patterns",built around what sounds like a sample of Timothy Leary's voice and a slinky guitar break. There are three more instrumentals here-among the best songs on the album personally.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Flavors of Funk Road! September 11, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
When u drive down Funk Road, u won't brake on any of the songs! There are so many funky flavors to choose from, you'll thank Jerome Brailey's drumsticks u drove down this street! "Delta Dog" is a blues version of Atomic Dog! "What? Yeah!" is full of James Brown flavor! "Ouch" is an instrumental with piano flavor akin to Bernie Worrell. "Thee Funky Prez" has that Bootsy Collins flavor all over it. My favorite song has that Funkadelic flavor called "Sweet Blessings" for it's powerful emotional vibe featuring Garry Shider & a great guitar solo that I keep on repeat! All in all this album is an instant classic that I will be bumpin' for the next 30 years! It has great production, great drums, great musicians, great lyrics, & great solos. I fell in love with it as soon as I played it & u will too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mutiny on the high sea October 15, 2013
By Fred
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
This is a must have CD. It's very entertaining. Sweet Blessings is the one. It's has that Funkadelic Thang. The late Gary Shider doing what he does best. It would have been nice to have Gary's voice up front. I am wearing the grooves off this mug.
