axiom funk indeed, this sounds so p-funk went back in time and met the jetsons, all the p-funk all stars play on here, plus good guess stars look for most of these to sampled in the future once folks discover the new p-funk goldmine believe me if you love this cd, and get hooked on the funk, there are some more funk to check out, under the influence sholud have been on tapofom, this was george at his best-this can't help but be funky bootsy, plus herbie hancock, sly, and robbie man this is funky, if 6 was 9 is a remake of the jimi hendrix classic this sounds like bootsy meets the jetsons here, this song will sound fresh in the year 2456. cosmic slop was redid nicely and yes gary shider sings on this tame version, sax machine has bobby byrd, bootsy, fed wesley and maceo reliving their james brown days, tell the world features the jb's plus sly stone, and godmomma, blackbyrd does some solo's on here that wil blow your mind, freeks has george, bootsy, bernie worrell, mudbone, and gary going off, my favorite 2 cuts is pray my soul starring the late eddie hazel, this solo is ranked with maggot brain, then there is orbitron attack featuring eddie hazel, bootsy, bernie, and jerome brailey, this was the bomb, eddie rocked it bad man bad, this was bad eddie proved he's the best guitarist ever aside of hendrix, man you proved it rest in p man, if you buy this and get knee deep in the funk, check out eddie hazel rest in p, michael hampton, dawn silva, jb's horns, mutiny, o.g. funk, bernie worrell, fresh outta p-university by bootsy, dope dogs by the p-funk all stars, roger troutman jr. for a bigger funk blast to get you started.

5.0 out of 5 stars "THE BOMB", March 12, 2002

This album is truly an advance back to the original funk with a little future flavor! Eddie "Maggot Brain" Hazel drops with Bootsy on if 6 were 9. This might be my favorite from the funk mob. The whole album has a kind of eerie dark ambient yet Funkadelic diversity. I cant stop listening to it. Fuzzy would have fit nicely on this one, but he did counter with his orignal "P" album, which only had 3 good songs that should have been on the funkcronimcon album, it has the same flavor.

4.0 out of 5 stars All About Funk, May 8, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Funkcronomicon (Audio CD)
Heavy, choppy beats drive this double-CD of nappy old-school funk married to the smoother Axiom sound. It's a party! Deadly guitars also make this an outstanding dance album - enough to cause roomfuls of people to fall helplessly into butt-shaking line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Waving my FreakFlag high, baby!, July 18, 2008
This review is from: Funkcronomicon (Audio CD)
Unfunkinbelievable. This hunk o' wax is so DAMN funky, it's got stink lines comin' off it. I don't even have Disc 2, and I can recommend the Funkcronomicon unequivocally. The other reviewers have mentioned the version of "If 6 Was 9" found here, but I gotta say it: Transendfunkindental. When I grow up, I wanna be Bootsy.

Bill Laswell is a genius for putting this project and Praxis with Bootsy together. I've listened to this set more than a dozen times just to hear If 6 were 9 and Cosmic Slop. For many people, this is a great intro to Buckethead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, December 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Funkcronomicon (Audio CD)
This is definitely one of the funkiest, mind blowing, entertaining cd's I have ever had to privilege to listen to. From beginning to end, there is rarely a dull or uninteresting moment.

If you dig funk, then this album is a must have because you've never heard funk like this before.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent find!, April 14, 1999

This review is from: Funkcronomicon (Audio CD)
AXIOM FUNK is a great introduction to P-Funk type music for the uninitiated, as well as a demonstration of the contnued vibrancy of the genre for the already converted. Maceo's work on SAX MACHINE (disc 2 song 2) ranks among his best. Additionally, the production values on AXIOM FUNK are spectacular. The sound is crisp and clean. Just hope we see another release from this outstanding project.

This album is a true work of art!It is a double album of uncut P-FUNK at it's best! This album covers almost every genre of FUNK that you can think of and has some of the greatest P-FUNK legends as well other great players. The production from Bill Laswell is first rate and the performances from cats like:GEORGE CLINTON,BOOTSY COLLINS,MACEO PARKER,EDDIE HAZEL, FRED WESLEY,HERBIE HANCOCK and BERNIE WORRELL are STUPENDOUS!This album can hold it's own with almost any classic FUNKADELIC or PARLIAMENT records. What also makes this album very special is that it has EDDIE HAZEL'S final work which turned out to be awesome! My fav songs are:UNDER THE INFLUENCE,ORBITRON ATTACK,SAX MACHINE and TELLING TIME.If you are a true FUNKATEER like myself then you must pick up this joint. Don't FAKE THE FUNK! This album will set you free.
