The Mothership of P-Funk Comps,
This review is from: Funked Up: The Very Best of (Audio CD)
Rather than gripe about another yet Parliament collection, I'll stick to the merits of this CD, which are considerable. With more tracks than any previous Parliament compilation (except the two-CD anthology) and featuring crisp, booming remastered sound, this is both the place to start for beginners and a welcome place to revisit for the coverted. Get funked!

It doesn't get any better than this. This album has The Best of Parliament - Give Up The Funk beat! And really only because of sound quality. The selections are almost virtually the same. Now I know everyone has their opinion of why people buy Best of's and that it usually only to 'get into the band', I think of them as a nice album on their own. Always check out the original albums the songs came from but this is a fantastic listen from beginning to end.
I have this and Gold. I sold both Give Up The Funk and Tear The Roof Off (1974 - 1980) because I upgraded but the original albums are great in their own right. I just prefer the remastered sound quality. And when you reach a level of quality that you're personally satisfied with, then stop right there. Even if that's the non-remastered versions. The point still comes across either way. We want the funk, gotta have that funk!

Funk personafied,
This review is from: Funked Up: The Very Best of (Audio CD)
That's what P/Funk is and always has been ! The P/Funk collective had many lineup changes but the funky grooves always remained and stayed tight !I miss that in music today when any idiot with a PC and a drum machine can make a hit song !
