5.0 out of 5 stars Transfers to give your embroidery, etc. lots of ideas
With 36 pages of iron-on transfers to embroider, you will need to put your thinking cap on so you can come up with great design combinations of your own. Then put them on things like clothing, linens, hats or handbags. When you run out of things to use them on, think again! Only this time think appliqué, wood burning or fabric paint! The ideas are endless...

2.0 out of 5 stars cute designs - terrible transfer ink
This book has some really cute designs but they don't transfer well. The transfer image is pale and hard to see. I made sure the fabric was hot and the iron on the correct setting, but after repeated tries with different fabric and different designs I've given up. Sending the book to my granddaughter who will surely find a way to use it and I'll stick to Aunt Martha's...

5.0 out of 5 stars Transfers to give your embroidery, etc. lots of ideas, September 28, 2007
This review is from: 200+ Fun & Funky Embroidery Designs Iron-on Transfers (Leisure Arts #4330) (Paperback)
The ideas are endless.

Embroidery thread now comes in so many types from the "regular" thread to metallics, jewels, antique pearlescent, fluorescent and don't forget "glow in the dark". You will have so many ways to use these transfers that you may not know where to begin.

The first two pages are general instructions on the basic transfer of the patterns to making sure you have all the supplies you need to begin. The next pages shows seven embroidery stitches with graphics if you don't know how to do them or if you need to refresh your memory. There is a six-page gallery of projects that have been created using the transfers in 200+ FUN AND FUNKY EMBROIDERY DESIGNS.

The transfers themselves range from cats, birds, insects, borders, hearts, flowers, Southwest, seasonal, welcome signs and a whole array of fonts. Combine several or use them alone. Outline or fill them in. Do them in a single color or their actual colors.

The possibilities are never-ending. Grab a hoop and just begin!

There is a lot to choose from in this collection. The transfers come through nice and dark. There are lots of ways to combine them and many different styles. I highly recommend this book!

2.0 out of 5 stars Cute designs but poor transfer quality!, January 10, 2010
This review is from: 200+ Fun & Funky Embroidery Designs Iron-on Transfers (Leisure Arts #4330) (Paperback)
I purchased this book because I wanted to do some practice embroidery designs before tackling a larger project, as I had not embroidered in several years. This book had a variety of cute designs that looked as if they would provide a wide range of stitch usage.

I was very disappointed when I attempted to transfer the designs onto my fabric. I followed the instructions exactly, prewashing my fabric, allowing my iron to preheat, and heating up my fabric before doing the transfer. Even with my iron on the highest setting and applying heat long enough to discolor the paper, the designs refused to transfer to my mid-color linen fabric. I found a piece of muslin in my fabric box, which yielded better results, although the designs were still very faint and difficult to see. Additionally, as I worked the design, handling the fabric faded it even further and in several places made it nearly impossible to see the design outline before completing it.

I have worked with various embroidery transfers over the years and have not experienced such difficulty. I would not recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars to faded to transfer, August 4, 2011

I had used an exact copy of the transfers in this book before with great satisfaction. I couldn't find it in my local crafts stores so I ordered it here big mistake. I assume the book was so old the transfers would not replicate on the fabrics I chose. I returned to the older book and reused some of those transfers 2 or 3 times. What a waste of money
