YES INDEED, MAN!!!!!,
This review is from: Funky Nassau (Audio CD)
you know, i thought at first when i heard FUNKY NASSAU that this was gonna be one of those albums where the song released (of course, they are considered "one hit wonders".) is the first cut and the rest of the album just plain sucks!!!! i have never been so happy to be wrong in my whole unfulfilled LIFE!!!!! this is the type of funkiness that i have dreamt about for the vast majority of my life!!!! ESSENTIAL BOMPALICIOUSNESS!!!! if you like that raw HUMMAFUNK, then you will enjoy this immensely.
(stankyfunkfootnote: the last track........think PETE ROCK and CL SMOOTH.)

Just dug this out of my vinyl collection and put it on. Wow what can I say, this is the sound that Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and Joss Stone have tried so hard to re-create on all their albums. This is the real thing, buy it for some real 70s bass playing and those horns are brilliant.

Best James Brown that isn't James Brown,

I loved "Funky Nassau" from beginning to end, but it wasn't until some time went by that I realized that these guys sound a whole lot like James Brown. The singer's tone, his mannerisms, the lean, chopping rhythm guitar, the funky drummer, even the song nomenclature ("Part 1, Part 2") all recall the great JB. If you like middle period James Brown be sure to check these guys out. I don't know if JB ever covered "Funky Nassau" but if he didn't he should have, since it's one of the best James Brown songs ever.

I used to request "Funky Nassau" on the local radio show. Friends never believed I was the caller, not thinking it was my taste. I could not remember the name of the group until I heard the tune late one night. It was a must have. Many of the other tunes are just okay but Part 1 and 2 are worth the bucks.

i understand remastering to enhance the sound quality but, when i ordered the cd, the price was so elevated that i assumed,(silly me), everything would be an original product however,in all honesty the provider did offer,i repeat did offer me a return option, i just did'nt want to pay a cost in time and treasure for a return,so i smolder, pout and rue the purchase. ty blue
