4.0 out of 5 stars FOONKY!
I do not agree with the previous reviewer.
I was very glad when i heard about the re-release of "Funky Snakefoot". This album is a great mix of funk, soul and jazz.
Some tunes sound a little dated, but some grooves of Alphonse are just awesome and his singing is quite good as well.
And then, look at the list who supports Alphonse on this Cd. Mike...

I own 'Mind Transplant' which is a killer 70's fusion disc so I took a chance on this hoping it would be similar. It's not. Very boring 70's pop/r&b with not a good tune on the whole disc. I guess there's a reason some of these albums take a long time making it to disc.

Especially the last three tracks are more Jazz-Rock oriented. The last song ISM is an Eleventh House song.

"Funky Snakefoot" is a good album, especially for funk/soul/rock - jazz fans who like great funk grooves.

i can't believe someone is giving this only 1!!!!!!!!! I guess fusion purists are entitled to opine away but c'mon... I'm tempted to give it 5 just to butress the rating system but it ain't that good. If only, I could do four and a half... Still-

IF YOU DIG ON CLASSIC FUNK/JAZZ/ROCK, THEN YOU WILL DIG ON THIS FAR TOO SLEPT ON CLASSIC! ALSO- (don't tell mom, but... the drums for the beastie boys' 'shake your rump' come from this bad mutha! need i say more??????

This album rocks and swings and it ain't trying to be anything that it's not. If you want fusion- fine. But don't slag this just cuz it don't fit into your own lil rattlebag!

This is one of the top ten all time albums I've owned. It is a smooth blend of funk, rock, and jazz. I've been looking for it on and off on CD since my turntable quit. I'm trilled to find it here.

When I say "Top Ten", I mean it! From the reviews I've read, there's obviously some other opinions. But this is still one of my favs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ripoff!, April 1, 2008

If this is the same import I bought then it's a total ripoff. Apparently when Blue Note turned over the masters for this album they gave EMI the 3:40 radio edit of "The Begger"; the funkiest track on this disc. You would be better off finding a clean vinyl version with the full 4:45 version.

alphonze mouzon is a fusion power drummer. right up there with billy cobham. but who in the world told him to sing???. maybe he told himself, maybe if i sing i will be the best drummer.i loved his album & c-d mind transplant. it is a super-strong fusion master . do not buy funky snakefoot. he screams on most of the songs. he can not sing. don`t waste you time and money on this garbage.get mind transplant. it is his best work as a fusion drummer!!!!!!.
