Book Description

This was one town that didn't go quietly into the night when the UN troops arrived to begin the NWO takeover! The story follows a handful of people through the events, including two families from opposite sides of the social spectrum, and a team of army soldiers who are reluctantly carrying out orders -- until enough is enough!

A growing number of soldiers have decided the army has gone AWOL on them. It's no longer the army they signed up to serve. Working side by side, civilians and soldiers take back their town and send the foreign troops packing.

This book is light entertainment and mostly free of profanity. Originally written as two separate books, they have been combined into one book. The first book, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Takeover" has been combined with this one to make one larger volume.

About the Author

Susan Gregersen lives with her husband in an off-grid, solar-powered log cabin in Montana. When she's not working in the garden or canning and dehydrating the harvest, she likes to go bicycling, kayaking, and hiking. With her children grown and on their own she began to write survival and disaster fiction books. No matter how serious she tries to be, it tends to end up with a lighter twist.

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit too nice. December 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A sweet and very innocent remake of Red Dawn, where absolutely nobody was killed, and the badguys basically were shamed out of town. More or less by accident, one guy was slightly wounded near the end of the book. A children's story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Always good reads.. September 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I think I've read all of Susan's books and I like all of them.
I like her down to earth writing, she keeps it plausible and entertaining. This book details the break down of government and the military after the change of society as we currently know it.
It's not a long book, and there isn't Clancyesque character development...which is good for me. It's a quick entertaining read. Keep 'em coming!

2.0 out of 5 stars Tried to hard to be country. September 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I like the idea of the book but it is written to convey that they are country folk and the spelling/enunciation made it difficult to follow.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay December 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's a light read and she's got a good sense of humor but it's just "too nice" to be real.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't Know December 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It wasn't bad but it really wasn't that good either. I liked the concept but can't believe in reality it would ever happen that way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well... THAT was different! July 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was waiting for Sgt. Schultz and Barney Fife to show up...
I'm also waiting for the sequel! What happens when Billy Bob finds out most his beer was left behind?

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute garbage November 24, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Thank heavens I only paid .99 cents for the two books in the series! I gave the book one star because I couldn't give it zero. The books reads like an 8th grader wrote it over a weekend. It is poorly structured, the characters are farcical and the contrived hillbilly dialogue is an insult to everyone who reads it. I strongly urge readers of every level to avoid this book. MIT is a waste of money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable. July 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed the light hearted story of a UN take over of America. I can't wait for the story to
Continue. Some of the characters remind me of an old Ma & Pa Kettle movie. The characters are very like able
And it's easy to cheer for them. The subject matter is serious and I hope it stays fiction, but "it will never happen is
No longer in my vocabulary". I'm looking forward to the good guys taking our country back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this story line.
While I hope this never really happen, I would hope that we, as Americans, would do the same as the charactors in the book. Enjoyed every minute of it.

1.0 out of 5 stars A funny thing happened when she wrote this book!
Really? Come on. Billy Ray? Ray Bob? "Kin I go see Sally Sue Betty afore we go? Oh hush boy, stop frettin' over some ole gal!" A little too country, don't you think. Read more

More About the Author

My husband and I live in an off-grid, solar-powered cabin surrounded by forest and mountains in NW Montana. We produce nearly all of our food, through gardening, hunting, fishing, foraging, and the occasional domestic meat animals we raise some years.

My first book was "The Long Ride Home", which I wrote on a cross-country bicycle trip in 2010. It's sort of a 'what if' about how I would have gotten home if the world had fallen apart while I was so far from home on a bicycle.

Most of my books have started with real people in mind. There have only been a couple exceptions to that, where the characters and their situation at the beginning of the book came solely from my imagination. It makes me bristle when a reviewer says "Oh, there can't be anyone like that", because there really is! We all have different frames of reference to draw from but we shouldn't discount what other people know. After all, they say truth is stranger than fiction!

I have a hard time keeping my books serious. I can't stop myself from having my characters make quips to each other, or other ways of lightening a scene. I guess that's my style and you might as well expect it when you read my books! I also have a hard time sitting still and being patient while I write. When I get an idea I want to type it all down as fast as I can, get it edited, and share it with everyone. I'm learning to slow down and look it over and see where I can expand on it, and where expanding would make the book boring to read. I enjoy writing and hope to keep entertaining people with my books for years to come.

Thank you for your interest in my books and in me as a writer!
Susan
